'Did we upset you?': The Weeknd shades 'irrelevant' Rolling Stone, says magazine is 'past its prime' in scene from 'The Idol'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Rolling Stone is in deep water after the publication released an article that raised allegations against The Weeknd's new show 'The Idol' and its director Sam Levinson, known for his work in 'Euphoria'. Rolling Stone accused Levinson of turning up the sexual content and nudity of the upcoming HBO drama 'The Idol' and twisting it into a “rape fantasy.”
The magazine also allegedly interviewed 13 members of the cast and crew of the show, who came forward to talk about the drastic change in creative development, former director Amy Seimetz leaving the show, and her directorial duties after completing most of the show. Prior to the accusatory article being published, Abel 'The Weeknd' Tesfaye, who stars in the show and is also the creator, shared a contentious video on his official social media page, which has raised eyebrows about the already controversial show

'Did we upset you?'
It seems like The Weeknd is doing everything to save the reputation of his upcoming series 'The Idol'. HBO's supposedly iconic show is in deep controversial waters even before its release. Abel 'The Weeknd' Tesfaye shared a video clip on his social media, where he tagged the magazine with a caption that read, "@Rollingstone did we upset you?" He also attached a clip from 'The Idol', in which Dan Levy is seen talking to him and Lily-Rose Depp about Rolling Stone reaching out to him to have Jocelyn, played by Depp, featured in the magazine. After knowing that Rolling Stone wants to do a cover, Jocelyn's boyfriend Tedros, played by The Weeknd, tells Dan that the magazine is a little irrelevant, but Dan explains to them that it is a cover and will be great for Jocelyn's popularity. Later, Tedros proceeds to tell Dan that Rolling Stones has lesser followers than Jocelyn, and half of them are bots. The couple continues slamming Rolling Stone, calling it "past its prime" and that nobody cares about the magazine. So, all of them come to the conclusion that if Jocelyn does a cover for the magazine, the magazine will gain some followers and there would be no profit for Jocelyn in the scenario.
Payback for accusatory article
Rolling Stone published an article titled 'The Idol’: How HBO’s Next ‘Euphoria’ Became Twisted ‘Torture Porn’ where they interviewed people from the cast and crew of the show and shared some scathing allegations made by them. Citing the production members, the publication said that The Weeknd and Levinson are creating a rape fantasy in the upcoming show. "It was like any rape fantasy that any toxic man would have in the show — and then the woman comes back for more because it makes her music better," one production member told the magazine about Levinson’s version of the show. Another added, "It was like, 'What is this? What am I reading here?' It was like sexual torture porn," according to Page Six.
The show's clip seems to be a clap by the 'Blinding Lights' singer, who just wanted to send a message to the magazine and the fans that whatever Rolling Stone puts out doesn't really change anything, as it is irrelevant and past its time. According to IMDb, "The Idol’ centers around a self-help guru and leader of a modern-day cult, played by The Weeknd, who enters into 'a complicated relationship with a rising pop idol,' played by Lily-Rose Depp."
