The Weeknd has continued to get fans in a tailspin over his cut, bruised and bleeding visage that he's used on various occasions throughout the past year, but this time, his final appearance has been revealed, or so we think.

In recent appearances for the public, the 'Blinding Lights' hitmaker sported bandages on his face before finally removing them to present a grotesque new look. But before you freak out, it's all make-up. Initially, The Weeknd adopted such aesthetics into the music video for 'Blinding Lights' which premiered in January last year and featured the singer heavily bleeding and bruised on the face.

He then similarly re-created the look in August at the MTV Video Music Awards. And in November, he covered his again-battered face with surgical dressing to accept an award onstage at the American Music Awards.

Move on to now, and there are no more bandages or damage, but what's left is a bizarre display of bloated cheeks, puffed-up lips, a thinned and crooked nose and surgery scars. The singer took to his Instagram on January 5 to showcase his new look without dropping any caption for the photo — what a way to get fans and the media in a frenzy.

Additionally, the horrific look also features in his new music video 'Save Your Tears'. While we can't get the infectious tune out of our heads, we also can't shake off his appearance. Watch it below.

What started out as shock from fans has also become a slew of jokes on Twitter. Many fans are dropping memes and humorous comments while expressing their disbelief. "The Weeknd is giving...," wrote a fan for a pic featuring the popular chiseled-face Squidward meme. One fan dropped a cheeky-grinning Jim Carrey pic from 'The Mask'. Another Twitter user posted, "Look like he's had botox injections in his cheeks and lips or maybe just cheek implants but, he has most definitely done something."

"Is the Weeknd working for Disney now ?" asked a fan while another wrote, "The Weeknd literally said lemme steal ideas from Alexis Stone." Another fan added, "No male artist is doing it like The Weeknd when it comes to visuals."

Although it is unclear what is the exact meaning of his prosthetically-crafted look, some fans are speculating it is to poke fun at Hollywood's commonly used way of getting the ideal face or even thinking it is a form of dissing against the Grammies after he was snubbed by not getting a single award from the ceremony.
