'Blinding Lights', the latest single from the Canadian singer-songwriter off his album of the same name was released in November 2019. Since its release, the track has been streamed a whopping 500M times on Spotify.
This is reportedly the 'Starboy' singer's seventh song to have achieved this feat and it looks like The Weekend, whose real name is Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, is only getting warmed up for the year.
According to a Spotify playlist, the other Weeknd songs that were streamed 500M times include 'Starboy', 'After Hours' and 'Can't Feel My Face'. The Weeknd has seen multiple awards and nominations since his debut.

Fans took to Twitter to congratulate The Weeknd on a Pop Crave announcement for his latest Spotify achievement. Amongst numerous excited gifs and comments declaring the singer as "king" and "legend", one fan commented that the cover art for 'Blinding Lights' should have been the album cover.
Some fans brought up the fact that the song has scored higher than the previous single 'Heartless'. Some appreciated the achievement saying "as it should. it's a bop (sic)". One fan said the singer has a "voice of an angel". One fan even predicted that The Weeknd is going to bag an award for the song. "Coming for record of the year," the fan wrote.
