The Weeknd's new album 'After Hours' has just pulled another win, spending its third consecutive week on the Billboard 200 at the No 1 spot. 'After Hours' released in March and is the first album to lead for three straight weeks since Post Malone's third album, 'Hollywood's Bleeding', which also spent its first three weeks at the No 1 spot, last year. A total of five non-consecutive frames at No 1 Billboard will reveal the full details of the new April 18 dated chart, where 'After Hours' places at No 1, on their website on April 14.

The LP earned 90,000 equivalent album units in the US in the week ending on April 9, of which, 64,000 are in streaming equivalent albums units, 23,000 are in album sales and 3,000 are in track equivalent albums units, according to Billboard. Apart from its critical and commercial acclaim, 'After Hours' continues to benefit from sales of bundles of album/ merchandise that The Weeknd has been releasing consistently since it released.

Fans on Twitter were quick to pour in heaps of comments in support of their favorite artist and have declared that "talent won" on this tally and "YUP HE SERVED (sic)." Apart from a list of "king" and "legend" monikers for The Weeknd, one fan responded to the news with "As it should. Well deserved." while another says, "He deserves every bit of this congratulations @theweeknd." One fan said "and they say he’s a flop...", posting a picture of a grinning Weeknd with a caption "I just sit back & observe (sic)."

Some fans even regard him as a powerful artist. "the power he holds," says a fan.

But 5SOS fans don't agree. The Australian band's new album 'CALM' missed the coveted spot on the chart after fans claimed that 10,000 copies of the album 'CALM' were sent out earlier than expected, alleging that this led to these albums not being counted and costing 5SOS their number 1 spot. A petition states, "10,000 physical copies of 5 Seconds of Summer's 4th studio album, CALM, were released to the public a week earlier than projected. There have been several instances where other artists' (i.e. Harry Styles, Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, One Direction) albums were released early and it did not affect their place on the Billboard 200 chart during their debut."

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the US based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA).

The Weeknd also announced the release of the deluxe version of 'After Hours' on March 23, according to Billboard. Unlike the standard edition which has no guest artist appearances, the deluxe edition adds remixed tracks with featured artists from Chromatics and Lil Uzi Vert, along with additional production from The Blaze, Johnny Jewel, and OPN. The deluxe edition was later updated to include three new bonus tracks.

'After Hours' is indeed a great album to kick back and listen to while under quarantine. Here's hoping The Weeknd's album will get a third week on the Billboard 200 chart as well.
