Spoilers for 'The Walking Dead: World Beyond' Episode 2 'The Blaze of Gory'

One of the major storylines in 'The Blaze of Gory' was that of Nico Tortorella's Felix Carlucci. After being introduced as Iris (Aliyah Royale) and Hope's (Alexa Mansour) guardian, Felix and his partner, Huck (Annet Mahendru) set off in search of the kids when they breakout from the Omaha community along with Elton (Nicolas Cantu) and Silas (Hal Cumpston) in an attempt to find their father. With the teens getting a head start, Felix hastily searches while battling his own demons.

Felix is revealed to be gay in the series and part of a family where he actually is the sole breadwinner. When his father realizes the truth about his sexuality, Felix is asked to leave as he reluctantly moves on. However, with the zombie apocalypse striking the world, he rushes back to save his family, only for them to outcast him and seal their fate. Felix is shown to have escaped while his parents suffer the same fate as most of the people by becoming empties.

While on search, Huck and Felix pass through the area where he grew up, and when they batten down for the night, Felix attempts to go kill his zombied parents but is unable to do so which he reveals to Huck later on when they resume the pursuit. This adds to young guards' already established trait— Loyalty. The episode shows he is a man with a moral compass and he wouldn't kill unless it was for absolute self-defense. With his folks locked up, they posed no immediate threat and Felix couldn't bring himself to kill them.

This also adds to how he can be the teens' savior in their attempt to make it through 'The Blaze of Gory' a smoky area filled with empties. With Hope shown to be taking off alone in the final minutes of the episode, the risk factor just climbed a couple of notches higher and it might come down to Felix and Huck to save her and the rest of the young team. It also makes sense to have Felix spearheading the survivors as they are the last members of their community with the CRM killing the rest.

The show might become predictable with Felix going on to become the sole guardian until the Iris and Hope find their father but his troubled backstory makes him the perfect choice to keep them safe.

'The Walking Dead: World Beyond' airs Sundays 10 PM ET on AMC.
