'Daredevil: Born Again' Season 2 Episode 2 features the return of a corrupt officer who escaped death
In its second week, 'Daredevil: Born Again' Season 2 premiered two episodes together, delivering double the action and drama as Matt Murdock amps up his fight against Wilson Fisk. During Episode 2, 'Shoot The Moon,' one can't help but spot Cole North, an AVTF agent who was caught in a massive explosion at the end of Season 1. Played by actor Jeremy Isaiah Earl, North is an NYPD sergeant from Chicago who joined Fisk's Anti-Vigilante Task Force in Season 1 Episode 6, titled 'Excessive Force.'
More importantly, he is the one who killed Hector Ayala (Kamar de los Reyes), the Puerto Rican vigilante who went by the name White Tiger. After Ayala was acquitted of murdering the cop, Kel Shanahan, North shot the vigilante at point-blank range and framed Punisher for the murder, despite admiring him in the past. North was among the few officers in the department who admired the Punisher's violence against criminals and wore the Punisher's skull insignia on his bulletproof vest, even as his AVTF team was tasked with rounding up all the masked vigilantes at Fisk's orders. As part of the AVTF, North went on a manhunt for the masked serial killer Muse in Season 1. However, they failed to catch Muse alive, and he was killed by his latest victim, therapist Heather Glenn, in self-defense.
In the finale, North led his team of AVTF agents as they raided Murdock's apartment and got into an intense fight with Daredevil and the Punisher. During the scuffle, North ended up revealing that he killed Ayala and had no regrets. Despite Punisher's insistence, Daredevil resisted the urge to kill the corrupt police officer. However, before he could react, another AVTF officer threw a grenade into the apartment, with the masked heroes barely making it out in time. North also survived the explosion somehow with only a mild scar on his cheek. He was next seen pleading with the AVTF leader, Connor Powell, to get his job back, and Powell agreed to have him return to the police force.
North's character arc in the Disney+ series deviates from the comics, where he becomes one of Daredevil's crucial allies after working under Fisk's AVTF. It is yet to be seen if the officer has a change of heart and abandons his corrupt ways. Moreover, with Angela Del Toro, Hector's niece, putting on his Amulet of Power and becoming the new White Tiger, this points to the fact that she may be ready to settle scores with her uncle's killer. North has only made a brief appearance so far, and viewers can tune in at 9 p.m. ET on Tuesdays to watch his character develop further in 'Daredevil: Born Again' Season 2 on Disney+.
