The first live shows began on 'The Voice' and the competition was intense right off the bat, 17 artists who have made it to the live shows will be whittled down to nine on the elimination show on May 11. Intense competition is what the four contestants who participated in the Four-Way Knockout are more than familiar with. But ultimately it was Devan Blake Jones who made it through to the live shows, beating out hot favorite Carolina Rial.

The judges, however, are finally relaxed, because now choosing the contestants who continue their 'The Voice' journey is down to the audience voting at home. The Live playoffs started out with Team Kelly. Corey Ward was the first performer of the night. The judges appreciated his passion though Nick Jonas felt Corey should focus a little more on his technique. Gihanna Zoe, also known as Baby Beyonce on the show was up next. The judges felt more than ever with her performance she was like the Queen B and that she had professionalism beyond her years.

Next was Zae Romeo, who Kelly feels is the perfect combination of Gihanna and Corey's vocal styles. Team Kelly concluded their performances of the night, with hot favorite Kenzie Wheeler. While the judges might have been all praises for the first set of performances, fans were not impressed. One fan tweeted, "And ANOTHER episode where everyone is singing whining, weepy b-ballads. It’s damn depressing."

Another fan tweeted, "So far, can't vote for any of the first 3 performers. The songs definately weren't classic hits & whatever they were, they were changed up so much they were unrecognizable. The Voice isn't doing these artists any favors. Way too much screaming so far. Dial it back pls."

One thing's for sure, Kelly's look at the Live shows wasn't getting the audience's vote either. One fan tweeted, "Omg that dress is horrible whoever told you that was a good look lied."

Would fans be more impressed with Team Legend? Ryleigh Modig was the first one to take to the stage from Team Legend and John said after her performance that he feels so lucky to have her on his team. After Zania Alake sang 'Dangerous Woman' John said Zania embodied the name of the song with her extremely powerful and confident performance. Fans, however, couldn't have disagreed more. One fan tweeted, "This definitely feels like the wrong song choice for Zania... #TheVoice"

Pia Renee who Blake Shelton considers a threat to his team was up next and Blake thought it was Team Legend's best performance of the night. But it was Victor Solomon who got the first standing ovation of the night from all four judges.  However, fans were still not feeling the performances, even if the judges were gushing. One fan tweeted, "#TheVoice something is not right. They all sound a little off key or is it just me? Is the stage in a spot where the singers can't hear themselves??"

Another fan tweeted, "#TheVoice Jeez is it my ears tonight or are the song choices miserable tonight?"

It was finally Team Nick's Dana Monique who brought some energy to the rather lackluster night with her rendition of 'Free Your Mind'. Dana deservedly received a standing ovation from all four judges.

Fans were thrilled they finally had someone to cheer for. One fan tweeted, "#TeamNick omg.... Dana Monique my goodness... lord have mercy... #TheVoice." One fan tweeted, "Dana Monique! Omg that was FREAKING AWESOME!!!!! GIRL YOU NAILED IT!!!!! Who else agrees #TheVoice."

Up next was Andrew Marshall, who was so down on energy that even his coach couldn't pretend that it was a perfect performance. One fan tweeted, "Did Nick just give Andrew a good bye & farewell speech after his performance #teamnick #TheVoice"

Up next was Jose Figueroa Jr. and Nick thought it was one of his best performances so far. Fans though didn't find it a particularly memorable performance at all. Devan Blake Jones who took to the stage with Backstreet Boys 'Shape of My Heart' had fans wondering about his song choice. One fan tweeted, "Devan Blake Jones is headed home tonight! Did #TheVoice coaches not have any say in song selection 2nite? Omg this is piss poor karaoke!!  @NBCTheVoice #teamNick"

Up next was the competition's youngest singer Rachel Mac, who fans credited for helping to elevate an otherwise extremely boring show. One fan tweeted, "Rachel and Dana saved the show so far! #TheVoice." Another fan tweeted, "Let me donate a vote to Rachel cause that was beautiful. #TheVoice."

Team Blake came with Jordan Matthew Young taking to the stage first and fans finally had some hope that the show could take a turn for the better. One fan tweeted, "Jordan’s rendition of “Gold Dust Woman” is making me believe in this show again. #TheVoice"

Another fan tweeted, "@jmyoungmusic Now that’s how you sing a Fleetwood Mac song! Best performance so far! YES! #TheVoice."

Anna Grace then hit the stage with 'Let Her Go' and while fans had complaints that they were too many slow songs on the show, for Anna's voice they were willing to slow down. One fan tweeted, "Anna Grace that was hauntingly beautiful. @annagfmusic #thevoice Gorgeous artistry. #thevoice @blakeshelton #TeamBlake."

The next singer to take to the stage was Team Blake's Pete Mroz. Fans were impressed when almost all artists struggled with their pitch, Pete's performance hit the right notes quite literally. One fan tweeted, "Man I love Pete. He literally was one of like 4 people tonight who had their pitch figured out and did it effortlessly #TheVoice."

Others were wondering if the sound issues had finally been fixed on the show, or whether Team Blake was just better than the rest. One fan tweeted, "Now why it seem like they got the audio together for Blake’s team only cause all them sound better or different #thevoice."

The question was had the best been saved for last with Cam Anthony, considered the front runner on Season 20 of 'The Voice'? It seems that the fans certainly thought so. One fan tweeted, "#CamAnthony BLESS YOU and THANK YOU saving @TheVoiceABSCBN tonight!  #Amen #TheVoice."

Another fan tweeted, "He just doesn’t miss, cam is winning this thing #TheVoice".

To find out which nine artists make it through, you can tune into 'The Voice' on Tuesday, May 11 at 8 pm on NBC.
