On 'The View', guest Dennis Quaid gushes about children and fiancée Laura Savoie: 'She's just a wonderful, soulful person'

Quaid also talked about his first "sitcom" job on 'Merry Happy Whatever', the eight-episode series that premiered on Netflix November 28: "I felt like I was the weakest member of the cast for the first three shows. It was really like learning another type of acting"

Dennis Quaid is getting ready to take his fourth shot at a "happily ever after" with his 26-year-old fiancée Laura Savoie. Quaid confirmed his engagement to Savoie October 21.

Quaid told 'The View' hosts on the show December 3: "I know I've really found a partner. She's really fantastic." For Quaid, brainy is the new sexy, as he gushed about how smart Savoie was, "She's got a double Masters in Economics and Business and she's just a wonderful, soulful, beautiful person."

Quaid has three children from his previous marriages -- 12-year-old fraternal twins Thomas Boone and Zoe Grace, and son Jack Henry Quaid, who is 27 years old. Talking about fatherhood and co-parenting the twins, Quaid said having the two of them was "like having four because you never have a thought to yourself because they are always talking".

On the upside, he said, the twins always "have someone to play with and relate to". He sounded proud of his son Jack who has bagged some prestigious roles since he got into acting. "It was kind of obvious he was going to be an actor. It was just in his blood," he said.

But while Quaid might have passed on his acting genes, he has had very little to do with Jack's career. "He said, 'I want to do it on my own, dad'. The next thing I hear is that 'Hunger Games' is his first movie. Then he's doing Martin Scorsese's 'Vinyl' and I'm saying, 'well, how about a little help for me -- I'm not proud... He's doing just great," the actor gushed

Quaid also talked about his first "sitcom" job on 'Merry Happy Whatever', the eight-episode series that premiered on Netflix November 28: "I felt like I was the weakest member of the cast for the first three shows. It was really like learning another type of acting."

Speaking about the experience, he said, "I loved doing it. It's like a family." Part of the thrill was shooting the series on the "old '[The] Mary Tyler Moore [Show]' stage" which Quaid said was "so cool".

'The View' airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET on ABC.
