'The Suicide Squad' might still be months away from release but that hasn't stopped fans from speculating what John Cena would play in the film. The only lead they have so far is director James Gunn's admission that he will play an amazing role in the sequel. His confirmation comes after he responded to a fan tweet about the different characters Cena would mostly essay.

Gunn's tweet read: "A little late for the suggestions considering we finished filming in February, but thanks nonetheless & you're gonna freak out on how amazing John Cena is in The Suicide Squad as the character he does play..." Fans reacted saying Cena would most probably "play Peacemaker". "Maybe He is Peacemaker," a fan wrote and this was seconded by another fan who tweeted: "Everyone knows he is playing Peacemaker. Please confirm it"

Some fans wondered if Cena would play Bane. "John Cena was born to play Bane," a fan opined while some of them took to trolling the WWE star. "What if he just plays himself? I’ve talked with the guy and he’s always been a superhero. Even when he was just a PROTOTYPE," a fan remarked. "I cannot wait to see John Cena play the invisible man," a fan laughed. "John Cena as Zatanna = confirmed," another teased. The trolls thought didn't end there."I am pretty sure he's the invisible man, he's been saying that line all his life anyway," a fan tweet read. "Damn! Cena is playing Goku!" another fan wrote.

Earlier this year, the director also confirmed the sequel was "still on schedule" despite the production halt due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. Along with a bunch of new characters, the 2021 release is inspired by the classic Jon Ostrander's version of the 'The Suicide Squad' comics. There are two possibilities that have so far been discussed. In one version, the titular anti-heroes are assigned a mission to retrieve a weapon of mass destruction.

The full cast of the movie, as revealed by Gunn in a Twitter post, includes David Dastmalchian, Nathan Fillion, Sean Gunn, Taika Waititi, Daniela Melchior, John Cena, Joel Kinnaman (as Rick Flag), Juan Diego Botto, Alice Braga, Peter Capaldi, Jai Courtney (as Captain Boomerang), Mayling Ng, Storm Reid, Steve Agee, Julio Ruiz, Joaquín Cosío, Flula Borg, Pete Davidson, Tinashe Kajese, Jennifer Holland, Viola Davis (as Amanda waller), Idris Elba, Margot Robbie (as Harley Quinn) and Michael Rooker.
