Spoilers for ‘The Stand’ Episode 8 ‘The Stand’

The penultimate episode of CBS All Access’ limited series based on a Stephen King book, ‘The Stand’, will see more characters die. The last episode, ‘The Walk’, saw two of the show’s main characters — Mother Abagail (Whoopi Goldberg) and Harold (Owen Teague) — meet their end. But as we move closer to the ultimate end, more of our favorite characters will face death.

'The Stand': Meet Amber Heard, James Marsden, Alexander Skarsgård and the rest of the cast of Stephen King adaptation

What happened in Episode 7?

At Mother Abagail’s dying behest, Stu (James Marsden), Larry (Jovan Adepo), Ray (Irene Bedard) and Glen (Greg Kinnear) set off on foot towards Vegas to confront Randall Flagg (Alexander Skarsgård). The Boulder four, however, soon run into trouble. While trying to cross a deep crevasse, Stu falls and breaks his leg. Unable to continue on the journey, he then convinces the others to leave him behind. As Glen, Larry and Ray move ahead, they are greeted by Lloyd Henreid (Nat Wolff) in a stretch limo. He captures them and takes them to Vegas.

On the other side of the story, Harold and Nadine (Amber Heard) flee the Boulder Free Zone after the explosion. But Harold meets his terrible fate when his bike crashes and he goes flying off the edge. As he lies impaled onto a tree, Nadine leaves with a piece of advice: To kill himself. And Harold does exactly that, after writing a note in his journal. But Nadine’s fate is somehow darker — even if the show makes a conscious effort to spare her the violent and brutal rape King wrote in the book.

After being finally united with Flagg, the two have passionate sex. But things take a shocking turn when she sees the demon form of Flagg. We see Nadine’s hair turn white. And soon afterward, we see that Nadine is immediately very pregnant.

What happens next?

While there is no official synopsis for the episode provided by CBS, the episode will see Flagg try the three in an obvious kangaroo court. We see in photos how Larry, Glen, and Ray sit in a court in orange jumpsuits, as Llyod in a judge’s wig and the Rat Woman (Fiona Dourif) try them. We also see in photos that Flagg is present, the star of the show perched on a balcony.

There are also photos of the three incarcerated. Now, to the aforementioned deaths: Glen is most likely the one to die in this episode. In the book, Flagg says he would let Glen go, but only if Glen begged on his knees for that mercy. To this, Glen tells Flagg "We made such... such a business of you, and it turns out you're just another roach, running little roach errands!" Following this, Flagg orders Lloyd to shoot him to death. Before Lloyd does so, Glen says, "It's all right, Mr. Henreid. You don't know any better."

In the books, Flagg also gathers his band of followers to witness the violent dismemberment and execution of the other two in the city's central plaza. But before that can take place, the Trashcan Man (Ezra Miller) arrives. Episode 7 saw the Trashcan Man enter a missile silo, to get the “fire” that Flagg had asked for from the Nevada desert. In the story, just before the execution, he arrives with a nuclear warhead and detonates it, killing everyone present there — except Flagg, who disappears at the very last second.

It’s unlikely that this will happen in Episode 8. Because the finale, while rewritten for this series by King, will have to hold the most important part of the story, of course.
