'The Masked Singer' Season 2: The Tree gets axed to reveal Ana Gasteyer was under the mask and fans say they never saw that coming

She took to the stage performing her rendition of Lady Gaga's 'Edge of Glory' and Jenny McCarthy was the only judge who guessed her identity right

'The Masked Singer' Season 2 returned on Tuesday night for a special episode where one celebrity was unmasked and sadly it was the fan-favorite Tree.

The remaining six celebrities returned to the stage fighting for a chance to make it to the semifinals and stay unmasked. The Fox, Thingamajig, Flamingo, Leopard, and Rottweiler moved on to the semifinals after the Tree was eliminated.

It was one of the most shocking revelations this season. The Tree had been one of the frontrunners all the way. Sadly, after living on the 'Edge of Glory', the Tree was axed.

She took to the stage performing her rendition of Lady Gaga's 'Edge of Glory'. During her clue package she revealed, "If I'm being honest, it can get lonely under this mask. I miss the collaboration. I miss my friends."

After her energetic performance, the Tree shared another clue revealing that she had "shared the stage and a standing O with one of you." The judges speculated it might be Bebe Neuwirth, Racheal Ray and guest judge T-Pain guessed that it might be Mariah Carey just to frighten host Nick Cannon.

The Tree received the lowest votes from the audience and the judging panel and was sadly unmasked. The judges' final guess was Amy Sedaris, Ana Gasteyer, Bebe Neuwirth and Mariah Carey.

Unmasked, the Tree was revealed to be none other than Ana Gasteyer. Jenny McCarthy was the only judge who got it right. While the judges were all excited, one particular judge was embarrassed, and that was none other than Ken Jeong.

It was a repeat of Season 1 all over again. Ken had worked with Ana in a Christmas special before, but he couldn't guess that she was the singer under the Tree's mask. Apart from that, fans took to Twitter to reveal they had no clue it was Ana under the mask.

"I would have never guessed the tree I have no clue who she is but she sounded great #TheMaskedSinger," a fan shared. Another said, "I don't understand all the Friends clues for the tree? I thought she would've been on friends but she wasn't? #TheMaskedSinger."

"WOW! So Ana Geyster was the tree the whole time?! Would have never guessed that. I really was starting to think It was Megan Mullally for real, I was def off haha #TheMaskedSinger," a fan wrote.

"Well the tree was the first one I got wrong on #TheMaskedSinger," wrote another fan. Are you as shocked as fans? Let us know. 'The Masked Singer' Season 2 airs every Wednesday night only on Fox. Check your local listings for more information.
