Rina Sawayama announces 'The Making of Sawayama' docuseries release date, fans say they've 'been waiting'

The docuseries comes in light of her debut studio album 'SAWAYAMA', and it gives fans a look into her successful career and rise to fame

Rising pop star Rina Sawayama recently announced the official release date of her new docuseries on social media. Titled 'The Making of Sawayama', fans can look forward to the documentary kicking off on October 13 on YouTube with 'PART 1'.

"THE WAIT IS NEARLY OVER! sorry this took ages MAKING OF SAWAYAMA PART 1 13.10.2020," wrote the 'Bad Friend' singer in the caption for a new teaser video for the docuseries. The 19-second clip opens with a crowd chanting "Rina, Rina, Rina," and footage from her live concerts. It then includes some playful moments of in-studio sessions and ends with "THE COUNTDOWN BEGINS." You can watch Sawayama's new teaser below.

Sawayama's fans are in a meltdown over her upcoming documentary. "I CAN’T WAIT QUEEN," said one fan while another wrote, "WE WONNN," alongside a pic of an emoji designed to look like the singer.



 



 

One fan said, "brb lemme watch this 7 times."



 

"EVERYBODY MOVED AHHHH," wrote a fan in all caps.



 

Another fan added, "Yeeeees I've been waiting for this!! I'm so hyped now!!"



 

Over on Instagram, her new teaser has been received by as much excitement from fans.

One fan shared, "MISS RINA SAWAYAMA IS THE FUTURE OF POP AND ALT/POP AND SHE DESERVES ALL THE SUCCESS AND RECOGNITION THAT SHE CURRENTLY POSSESES PERIODT."

Sawayama previously announced 'The Making of Sawayama' back in July with another teaser trailer. Based on the content of her teaser videos and reports, the docuseries comes in light of her debut studio album 'SAWAYAMA', and it gives fans a look into her successful career and rise to fame. Similar to the latest teaser, the initial trailer features a collection of footage from her tours, studio sessions and day-to-day life. You can watch it below.

In the trailer, Sawayama also talk about her fears during the creation process of her debut full-length, which released in April 2020. “It’s scary to alienate some people,” she says, referring to the transition from her 2017 EP ‘Rina’ to her LP. "The sound has definitely changed. It’s quite sad and angry, and it kind of reflects my overall feelings towards the world."

The singer continued, "You just never know. People are savage online, you know? You never know how it’s going to get received. I can only make it super authentic to how I’m feeling," adding, "I could sell out on the second album, sure, but my first album is pretty precious to me, and I have a lot to say, lyrically.”
