While the fans thoroughly enjoyed the recent Verzuz battles between Bow Wow vs Soulja Boy and Keith Sweat vs Bobby Brown, it was now time for a fresh showdown between the East Coast legends. The iconic hip-hop trio The Lox faced another rap veteran group called The Diplomats Dipset in the Verzuz battle held on Tuesday, August 3 at the Madison Square Garden (MSG), New York.

Both the renowned hip-hop groups belted out their respective hit singles as social media users thronged to Twitter to speak about the same.  Speaking of Verzuz battle, the co-founders Timbaland and Swizz Beatz started the epic face-offs in March 2020. Some of the top artists like Monica and Brandy, Snoop Dogg and the late DMX, Gladys Knight and Patti LaBelle, Raekwon and Ghostface Killah, Nelly and Ludacris, Method Man and Redman and Alicia Keys and John Legend, among others went for the epic face-off.

Who won between The Lox and Dipset?

The Verzuz between the two legendary groups was surely one of the fiercest ones as they went all-in with mind-boggling adlibs and bass-heavy songs.  The Lox, also stylized as The L.O.X., hails from Yonkers and consists of celebrated hip-hop members such as Sheek Louch, Styles P and Jadakiss. Formed in 1998, the iconic trio dropped the heat at the Verzuz battle with their top songs like ‘It's All About the Benjamins’, and ‘We'll Always love Big Poppa’ giving a special tribute to late Notorious B.I.G. The hip-hop fans present at the packed venue also enjoyed other their guest verses on tracks like ‘24 Hrs. to Live, Mariah Carey's ‘Honey’, and Jennifer Lopez's ‘Jenny from the Block’. For the unversed, The Lox is best known for their multi-platinum 1998 debut album ‘Money, Power, Respect’ and the 2020 'Living Off Xperience'.

If we talk about The Diplomats Dipset, the legendary late 90’s group also gave tough competition to The Lox as they hyped the audience with their hit singles like ‘Oh Boy’, ‘Hey Ma’, ‘Under Construction’ and ‘Salute’ among a few others. The group went under a lot of changes since its formation in 1997. Cam'ron, Jim Jones and Freekey Zekey were the original members whereas fellow Harlem-based rapper Juelz Santana joined the group in 1999. If we talk about the winner, the Verzuz battles never crown the participants as it is always the fans/social media users who pick their favorites.

The showdown was aired Live at 9 pm ET/ 6 pm PT on the official Instagram page of Verzuz. Hip-hop fans could also stream the battle from the Triller app and Fite TV.

‘I love the toxicity and beef in all of this’

Hip-hop fans rushed to Twitter as they erupted with joy during the faceoff between The Lox and Dipset. While some made fun of the DJ playing diss tracks others picked their best out of the two. One user stated, “Now why in tf would he play that biggie diss record at a NY event......he cut that shit off real quick.” Another asked not to play Tupac Shakur’s diss track saying, “Don't play Hit Em Up though, DJ lol it's a NY crowd.”  Another user added, “The DJ tryna start some beef in the spot.”

One fan tweeted, “I’m dead emotional over this DIPSET #VERZUZ THE LOX”. Another added, “LOX walking out to @DMX intro gave me goosebumps… that song hit different every time it’s played!!” One user posted, “This verzuz so ghetto and I love it” while another shared, “This is so dramatic.” Another hip-hop fan asserted, “I love the toxicity and beef in all of this. No regrets, this my s**t, G #VERZUZ”. One concluded, “This the best #VERZUZ hands down already.”
