A secret romance, a billowing rebellion and the luscious heat of rolling Italian village landscapes, ‘The Last Paradiso’ is dropping hot on Netflix this February. Based on real events set in the post-war era of the 1950s, the Netflix trailer describes the story of an impossible, passionate love, the indomitable dreams of a laborer, and an exploration of rebellion and justice. The main cast of the Italian film features Riccardo Scamarcio, Gaia Bermani Amaral, Valentina Cervi and Antonio Gerardi.

Riccardo Scamarcio as Ciccio Paradiso

Scamarcio plays the role of the protagonist Ciccio Paradiso. He has co-written the film along with director Rocco Ricciardulli. Scamarcio is an actor and producer, best known for playing the primary antagonist Santino D'Antonio, an Italian Mafia boss in ‘John Wick: Chapter 2’ (2017). He has also starred in ‘Loose Cannons’ (2010) and ‘Three Steps Over Heaven’ (2004). He dated Valeria Golino (of ‘Rain Man’ fame) for ten years, from 2006 until 2016. His mother Irene Petrafesa is a painter.

Amaral plays the role of the mayor's daughter, the love interest of Ciccio Paradiso. She is a Brazilian-Italian actress, model and television presenter known for her roles in ‘Malati di sesso’ (2018) and ‘Baciati dall'amore’ (2011).

Amral became first known in 2000, after appearing in a series of commercials for Italian telecom company Gruppo TIM. She hosted the cinema magazine 'Stracult' in 2001 and made her debut as a stage actress with an adaptation of 1954 Audrey Hepburn romcom 'Sabrina', making her film debut four years later with Roberto Faenza's 'I giorni dell'abbandono'.

Antonio Gerardi as Cumpà Schettino

Gerardi plays the role of formidable mayor Cumpà Schettino in the film. He is an Italian actor known for his role in films like ‘The Girl in the Fog’ (2017), ‘Paolo Borsellino: The 57 Days’ (2012) and ‘Il venditore di donne’.

Cervi is an Italian actress known for playing the role of Martina in 'The Family', Salome Agrippa in 'Trupe Blood' and Marja Bolkonsky in the 2007 TV series adaptation 'War and Peace'. Cervi, daughter of director Tonino Cervi and granddaughter of the famous Italian actor Gino Cervi (who starred in the 'Don Camillo' movies), started her acting career at the age of ten with Carlo Cotti's 1986 film ‘Portami la luna’.

She also starred in other films including 'Jane Eyre', 'Artemisia' and 'Miracle of St. Anna'.

Who are the other actors?

The cast also includes the voice of award-winning actor and writer Peter Arpesella as Cumpà Schettino. Arpesella has also lent his voice to films like ‘Eat, Pray, Love’ and ‘Letters to Juliet’, Giovanni Cirfiera as Brigadiere and Giuseppe Nardone as Bracciante.

The movie is directed by Rocco Ricciardulli. It is produced by Ricciardulli and Federico Ferrandina.
