'The Good Karma Hospital' season 3: Release date, plot, cast and everything you need to know about the medical drama

As with previous seasons, six episodes of 'The Good Karma Hospital' have been commissioned for season three and ITV announced that it will hit the screens on November 11, 2019.

A medical drama series, 'The Good Karma Hospital' centers around a heartbroken doctor, Ruby Walker, who heads for South India hoping to make a fresh start. 

Announcing series three, executive producer Lucy Bedford said: "The commission of a third series is a testament to the hard work of our incredible cast and talented writers, led by Dan Sefton. The colorful characters and life-affirming stories continue to strike a chord with the audience and we are so excited to be bringing everyone another series of this wonderful drama."

Release date

As with previous seasons, six episodes of the series have been commissioned for season three and ITV announced that it will hit the screens in 2019. As per new reports, 'The Good Karma Hospital' will premiere on Acorn TV on November 11, 2019.

Plot

The official plot summary reads: "This medical drama follows doctor Ruby Walker (Amrita Acharia) who travels from England to India looking for a job and a distraction from a bad breakup. Arriving at an under-resourced hospital, Ruby must learn to cope with her eccentric patients and coworkers." 

The third season will see several big new arrivals, a shocking case involving an acid attack, and Dr. Ruby Walker continues to struggle with her dual British and Indian identities – made even more complicated by the developments in her relationships with Dr. Varma. We'll also see a new character, Ted Dalrymple, an older British man on a mission to find a past love.

Amanda Redman

Amanda Redman plays Dr. Lydia Fonseca in the show. As Dr Fonseca, she runs the clinic, serving India’s sick and unwell population. The actress was nominated for BAFTA TV Award for 'At Home with the Braithwaites' (2000–03) and 'Tommy Cooper: Not Like That, Like This' (2014). She has also starred in films like For Queen and Country (1988), Sexy Beast (2000) and Mike Bassett: England Manager (2001).

Amrita Acharia

Amrita Acharia essays the character of Dr. Ruby Walker in the series. Best known for playing Irri in the HBO series 'Game of Thrones', she also starred in the one-off BBC Christmas show 'Lapland' and also made an appearance as a schoolgirl in the biographical film 'The Devil's Double'.

Other actors in the show include James Floyd as Dr. Gabriel Varma, Neil Morrissey as Greg McConnell, Darshan Jariwala as Dr. Ram Nair, Sagar Radia as AJ Nair, Nimmi Harasgama as Mari Rodriguez, Phyllis Logan as Maggie Smart, Phillip Jackson as Paul Smart, Ivan Rodrigues as Davinder Bakshi and Sue Johnston as Virginia.

Director/Writer

Written and created by Dan Sefton, it includes a team of five other writers, Nancy Harris, Vinay Patel, Nicola Wilson, Ben Edwards, and Gabbie Asher. The series has been produced by Tiger Aspect Productions and distributed by Endemol.
