'It felt like settling': Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn broke up as singer 'didn't want to be tied down,' sources reveal

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Taylor Swift split up with actor Joe Alwyn after six years of dating as she didn’t see a future with him. The former couple reportedly called off their relationship many weeks ago. “The relationship had just run its course," a source said. It has also been revealed that the popular singer's love for Joe fizzled out.

“They’d talked about marriage,” said a source, according to RadarOnline. “But life beyond the altar didn’t appeal. Taylor didn’t want to be tied down and it felt like settling.” Taylor was spotted exiting the NYC hot spot Via Carota after dinner with producer Jack Antonoff and his fiancee Margaret Qualley just days after news of the breakup broke.

Taylor didn’t look heartbroken

A source claimed that Taylor did not appear to be heartbroken from the photos clicked by the thrilled passersby. Her fans were also quick to react to the news, with many parsing lyrics, song choices, and even costumes in Taylor’s Eras Tour for clues about what went wrong. “Taylor’s very in tune to what fans are saying about her online,” said one source. “She’s already alluding to the split on stage.”

'Cocooned' together during pandemic

Taylor and Joe were together during the height of the pandemic but soon discovered their love bubble couldn’t survive out in the open. “They were in this cocoon, and it was nice and quiet,” said a source. “When the world opened up, the dynamics changed and they were pulled apart.”

Joe's career didn't take off

While Taylor is headed out on her first tour in five years, Joe's career hasn’t exactly taken off. “He’s a very talented actor,” said a source. “But he felt eclipsed by Taylor’s career and larger-than-life persona.” Many sources close to Taylor Swift claim that the pop star is currently in a happy space as she gets to perform in front of thousands of her fans. “She feels a connection with the audience,” said an insider. “It’s been healing.”

Joe, on the other hand, can expect a song or two about their split, said the source. “She’s already scribbling down lyrics.”
