'The Blacklist' Season 8 opened with a bang. Dom was alive and well as the actor was recast. Ron Raines replaced the late Brian Dennehy's role in the first episode. It remains to be seen how long Dom will actually manage to stay alive on the show, as Katerina now has him in her custody, courtesy Liz (Megan Boone).

The premiere led to many questions, including this burning one: Why did Dom feel the need to lie about Red? His extravagant story about Red being Ilya Koslov was exposed. One speculation could be that Dom is related to Red in some way. But Liz still can't understand his motivations.

Liz had been told that Red was her mother’s dearest and most dependable friend – Ilya Koslov, Katerina's childhood friend. Apparently, it was said that he had devised the plan to take over Raymond Reddington’s identity. He had taken this step to protect her mother and to avoid any adversity with her enemies. He "altered" his face to become Raymond Reddington.

Dom knows the real truth, and he holds the key to all the answers that have been plaguing the show for a while. Currently, as things stand, Liz has kidnapped Dom, betrayed her team after a fake kiss with Donald Ressler, and taken Dom into Katerina's custody, who is most likely just going to torture him. In the preview for the next episode, Dom tells Red that he has told Liz "everything". What this "everything" is, we are yet to see.

Fans are rather upset with Liz turning "dark'" and in the midst of all the hate, many believe that Red is the one who is responsible for Liz's current state of mind, as he never told her anything before. Others say that Red has saved Liz numerous times, so she has no right to treat him like this.

It remains to be seen how Liz can repair her fraying relationship with Red, if at all. Apart from this, Red is also suffering a neurological illness and he just might be dying. Is this the last season of the NBC show?

'The Blacklist' airs on NBC on Fridays at 8 pm.
