'The Afterparty' Episode 1: A murder probe and loverboy Aniq is the prime suspect

Episode 4 of the series saw Chelsea give her account of events to Detective Danner. She makes it clear from the very start and admits to coming to the reunion for revenge. She claims that Xavier (Dave Franco) is to blame for everyone hating her, her friends ditching her which caused her to get depressed leading to the downward spiral of her life. All of this can be traced back to the St Patrick's Day senior party where Xavier wronged her. Her words interest Danner very much who tells her to continue.

During the reunion at school when Chelsea approached Xavier, he seemed to be low-key afraid of her possibly bringing up the past and multiple times brushes it aside and tries to confirm that everything is all good. But it's clear that he remembers what went down as he continues to act all chummy with her. Chelsea's revenge plan included giving him a roofie of cat tranquilizers and taking naked pictures of him to send to the press in order to embarrass him. At the afterparty at his house, she stops him before he can drink it and decides to be the bigger person. But not before making sure he knows that he's an a*****e and a douche, which she makes him sing.

All of what she said makes her seem guilty despite her saying she didn't go through with it. She clearly had the biggest grudge against him which Danner points out, but also thinks that the person who has been threatening Chelsea may have killed Xavier. When she enquires about what happened on St Patrick's Day, Chelsea says it was big deal for everyone. As she says, "oh my god Aniq", while talking, Danner catches on and asks what happened with him, to which Chelsea responds by backtracking and stuttering. This leads to the suspicion back on Aniq as three questions remain. What happened to Aniq and Chelsea? What did Xavier do to them on St Patrick's Day? And why was he scared? Watch the next episode to find out what happens.

New episodes of 'The Afterparty' premiere every Friday on Apple TV+.
