Apple TV+ is bringing a brand new murder mystery and intertwined with comedy the series is already looking to be a hoot! 'The Afterparty' is a classic whodunnit that will see a party end with murder and all the guests turn suspect.

The Apple TV+ show will see a group of friends reunite for an afterparty following their high school reunion which is hosted by popstar and celebrity Xavier who in a shocking twist ends up dead. Each of the group's members secretly hated him making everyone a suspect in the murder. Detective Danner who leads the investigation will trace back the timeline taking into consideration everyone's account of how the party played out. Filled with a talented cast of comedians and actors the latest mystery series promises to be a fun watch. So before the comedy drops, here's a look at who will be making you laugh!

Tiffany Haddish as Detective Danner

Tiffany Haddish is an American stand-up comedian, actress, and author who gained prominence for her role as Nekeisha Williams NBC's sitcom 'The Carmichael Show'. Life wasn't easy for her and Haddish had a tough childhood and had to care for her younger siblings from early on as her mother was deemed unfit. Life in foster care and debt made her grow up fast instilling in her adulthood way too soon. But she rose above it all to pursue her passion and worked many jobs to later o bag shows like ' That's So Raven', 'My Name Is Earl',' New Girl', 'Just Jordan', and more where she played smaller roles. 2017 saw her rise to prominence for her performance in the comedy film 'Girls Trip'.

Continuing her upward trajectory she won a Primetime Emmy Award for her work as a host on a Saturday Night Live and also won a Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album for her comedy album Black Mitzvahin 2021, making her the second African-American woman to win this prize after Whoopi Goldberg in 1986. Haddish will essay the role of Detective Danner, the lead investigator in 'The Afterparty'.



 

Dave Franco as Xavier, the murder victim

David Franco is an American actor, voice actor, and filmmaker who began his career in 2006 with CW's '7th Heaven' and went on to do small roles in films such as 'Superbad', 'Charlie St. Cloud', ' Warm Bodies' and more. A starring role in the ninth season of the comedy series 'Scrubs' won him attention following which he had a major breakthrough with the ' 21 Jump Street '. He followed that up with 'Now You See Me', 'Neighbors', ' Now You See Me 2', 'Nerve', and more. Franco who is the brother of actor James Franco also found love with actress Alison Brie who he married.

Putting on the director's hat, Franco made his directorial debut in 2020 with 'The Rental' which featured his wife. He is set to play the murder victim and celebrity Xavier in Apple TV+'s upcoming comedy 'The Afterparty'.

The rest of the cast includes Sam Richardson as Aniq, Zoë Chao as Zoe, Ben Schwartz as Yasper, Ike Barinholtz as Brett, Ilana Glazer as Chelsea, Jamie Demetriou as Walt, and John Early as Det. Culp, Danner's partner.

'The Afterparty' is set to premiere on January 28, 2022. You can watch it on Apple TV+.
