Spoilers for 'The 100' Season 7

'The 100' is away on a long three-week break, which is the longest this season, but The CW post-apocalyptic show is set to come back with new episodes on September 9. The CW has also confirmed that the final and 16th episode titled 'The Last War' will air on September 30, which means that the show will not be going on any more breaks and that the final four episodes will be aired each week.

This is good news and bad news. Good news because we have been waiting to see where this show is going with all that is happening this season and bad news because, let's be honest, we feel a little emotional that a show we have grown to love and appreciate for its great storytelling and character building, will end in just four weeks. Nevertheless, there is a lot to look forward to and we take a look at a potential face-off that might happen in the final leg of the series.

The lead of the series is undoubtedly Clarke Griffin (Eliza Taylor), although on watching Season 7, you might doubt that because it was only the season premiere that gave us a Clarke-centric episode. However, the next episode, 'Blood Giant' follows from the previous when Clarke, Raven Reyes (Lindsey Morgan), Bill Cadogan (John Pyper-Ferguson), Conductor Doucette (Jonathan Scarfe) and a "reformed" Bellamy Blake (Bob Morley) headed to Sanctum to find the Flame aka the Key so that Cadogan would let Clarke's friends go.

(The CW)

Of course, Sanctum has changed a lot since Clarke, Raven and Bellamy were there last. For one, Sheidheda finally took over Russell Lightbourne's (brilliantly played by JR Bourne) mind and had been plotting quite cleverly using the Children of Gabriel and the Eligius prisoners as pawns to take over Sanctum. They may be on a different planet but Sheidheda still is the same old bloodthirsty, power-hungry person. John Murphy (Richard Harmon) and Indra (Adina Porter) had tried their best but Sheidheda still came to power and after the events of the last episode was holding Murphy hostage.

So certainly, Clarke has a lot of catching up to do. Interrupting Cadogan's plans is the Red Sun — an eclipse which causes the plants on the planet to release pollen that lead to psychotic outbreaks. Clarke, Bellamy and Murphy know how to deal with the Red Sun. However, Cadogan and Sheidheda do not. These men are also the two antagonists of the show at the moment.

Usually when there are two antagonists, one eventually becomes an ally, but this time we are not so sure. In Season 5, the two main antagonists were Paxton McCreary (William Miller) and Bloodreina aka Octavia Blake (Marie Avgeropoulos). Their fight led to the eventual destruction of Earth, forcing our heroes to get on the spaceship to go look for other inhabitable planets.

This time around, both Cadogans and Sheidheda's goals are different although Sheidheda might want Bardo too once he knows of the existence. Cadogan just wants the Flame and then to go back to Bardo to initiate the Last War and going by the title of the last episode, it is probable that he will succeed. Since both of these men want mainly different things, but at the core the same — to be the "leader of humanity" — for lack of better words. Both men envision themselves to be great and both men are narcissistic.

This means that while Cadogan and Sheidheda might initially strike up an agreement, all indications point to that agreement collapsing. Cadogan's interruption just gives a chance to Sheidheda's detractors to fight back, though it remains to be seen who has better control of themselves during the red sun. Remember, in the previous season, Bellamy nearly killed Murphy.

This brings us to the person who has been dubbed the "heart" of the show, with the "head" being Clarke. Bellamy turned and became a Cadogan convert, even betraying Clarke to tell Cadogan that the Flame was destroyed and subjecting his friends and sister to the M-Cap machine which is torture. Whatever happens between Cadogan and Sheidheda, Bellamy might play a big role. He knows Sheidheda well enough by now and remains to be seen whether he is going to see how alike these two antagonists are, or whether he will help Cadogan with insider information.

'The 100' airs on The CW on Wednesday nights at 8/7c. The next episode will air on September 9.
