'The 100' Season 7 Episode 3 Preview: Clarke sets for Russell's execution as Raven tries to save Sanctum

There is growing discontent between the various factions in Sanctum and with Russheda in the picture, it can only get worse

With the third episode, we get to see a lot more of how things are on Sanctum in the post-Primes world. This means we will not be seeing AnomalyKru in June 3 episode as it is solely set on Sanctum -- though this pattern will soon change.

To recall what happened in the Season 7 premiere, when Clarke Griffin (Eliza Taylor) goes to talk to Russell Prime aka Russell Lightbourne (JR Bourne), he enrages her by giving her back her late mother's belongings. In the ensuing fight, Clarke knocks Russell out. This leads to the dark Commander, Sheidheda (Dakota Daulby) killing Russell in his mind space and taking over his body, meaning that Sheidheda is now Russell. We shall call the combined entity Russheda.

Meanwhile, there is growing discontent between the various factions in Sanctum -- the original Sanctum residents, the Children of Gabriel (who wanted "death to Primes), the prisoners of Eligius and WonKru from Earth. WonKru, of course, is a mash-up of the remaining people from the Ark and Grounders.

Also, Gaia (Tati Gabrielle), the Fleimkepa is worried because Madi Griffin (Lola Flannery) is no longer the commander. However, Gaia's mother, Indra (Adina Porter) is more concerned about the Grounders if they learn that the commander is no more. Sanctum is, of course, a small part of Planet Alpha (which is actually a moon) protected by a radiation barrier. In such a small place, it is no wonder that multiple factions are almost warring for that "slice" of liveable land. We don't even know how bad things could get during the red sunrise when trees emit a toxin that makes people go psychotic.

Clarke is far from having everything under control, and with Bellamy Blake (Bob Morley) missing, her job is only made harder. In the season premiere, Clarke announced Russell's execution and while Russell himself was prepared to die, we can expect Sheidheda as Russheda to do everything he can to survive.

His manipulation of the Prime believers behind the backs of Clarke and the others is quite certain and that could only lead to a worse condition in the upcoming episode titled 'False Gods'. Bourne is a series regular for Season 7, so it's certain that Russheda will stick around for a long time to come.

Finally, we also see in the trailer, shots of people burning of radiation -- this has something to do with the unexpected threat that Raven Reyes (Lindsey Morgan) has to handle. However, fans can expect to see a different side of Raven, one that even shocked John Murphy (Richard Harmon).

Sanctum is a boiling pressure container and it is only a matter of time before things blow.

'The 100' airs on The CW on Wednesday nights at 8/7c. Watch the promo for this week's episode below.
