'NCIS: Los Angeles': Where are Kensi and Deeks now? Daniela Ruah shares update: 'I think they’re...'
'NCIS's first spin-off series, 'NCIS: Los Angeles,' introduced fans to Daniela Ruah as the Special Agent Kensi Blye and Eric Christian Olsen as the LAPD Detective Marty Deeks, and the two quickly established themselves as a fan-favorite couple on the series. The popular crime drama series aired for 14 seasons on CBS from 2009 to 2023. Recently, Brian Dietzen, who plays Dr. Jimmy Palmer, and Diona Reasonover, who plays the Forensic Specialist Kasie Hines, in 'NCIS' launched their podcast, 'NCIS: Partners & Probies' to give fans insight into the long-running franchise. Ruah appeared as a guest on the latest episode, which dropped on April 28, to talk about her character and what she might be up to now.
Kensi's romance with Deeks was a highlight of the series, as the duo transitioned from colleagues to friends to lovers. The couple tied the knot in Season 10 and ended the series with Kensi's pregnancy. They had already adopted a teenage girl named Rosa Reyes (Natalia del Riego) in Season 13. Ruah responded to a fan question about where the couple might be now by saying, "In my opinion, I think they’re back to work. I think they both love what they do far too much. I think Mama Deeks is probably helping out with raising little ninja baby Kensi." Ruah even speculated on the baby's gender, "It was never established, but I don’t know. I feel like Kensi would have a tough little girl."
Deeks joined the series as Kensi's partner in Season 2, with their relationship blossoming into romance as they began spending more time together. The duo had their first date in Season 5 and officially got together in the next season. Ruah reflected on their relationship, calling it "a progression that made sense." She went on to add, "I think we always knew off the bat that it would somehow lead in that direction. And Eric and I have great chemistry," she said. Furthermore, the two actors are also related in real life, as Ruah revealed, "we’re actually family members at this point." The actress is married to Eric's older brother, David Olsen, who was his stunt double on the series. The couple shares a son named River and a daughter named Sierra.
Since leaving the 'NCIS' universe, Ruah has kept herself busy with other projects, but has returned to the franchise now and then. Her most recent appearance in the franchise's milestone 1000th episode, which fell in Season 21 of 'NCIS' and aired on April 15, 2024. She has also directed a few episodes of 'NCIS,' and its spinoffs, 'Los Angeles,' and 'Hawai’i.' The 42-year-old actress said she would happily return. "Absolutely, of course, of course. I love it. People have said multiple times, 'Are you afraid of becoming just attached to this character?' And it’s like, no. I played her for so long. She is me. I am her. … I think it would be so fun."
