'Teen Mom' star Ryan Edwards' charges dropped, ordered to rehab amid divorce with Mackenzie

Ryan Edwards’s arrest timeline

Ryan has married Mackenzie in 2017 and the former couple shares two children together, Jagger and Stella. While Ryan’s history of drug and substance abuse has always been a part of the MTV show ‘Teen Mom OG’, he has accused Mackenzie of cheating on several times. After having two short stints in jail in 2017 and 2019 for possessing controlled substances and theft, according to Showbiz Cheatsheet, things have worsened in 2023.

On February 9, 2023, Ryan was served with an Order of Protection for Mackenzie and was asked to leave the house where Mackenzie lives. The next day Mackenzie accused him of releasing private photos of Mackenzie on social media with harassing posts. Due to this police booked him on the charges of violation of protection order and harassment, reports People. This came two days after Mackenzie filed for divorce, as reported by E! News

On March 1, he was arrested again for stalking and violation of the Order of Protection. In mid-March, after the charges were dropped he was ordered to rehab which he was required to attend for 11 months and 29 days, as per People. He was also originally required to visit the court on April 20 if nothing else happened.

'This show ruined his life'

One fan exclaimed, "Omg are you serious?! At this point he needs to go to rehab, then do a little jail time and think about his life." Many fans even busted the network by saying, "How did mtv “basically pay” for rehab? Either they did or they didn’t. Sad that Ryan is making these mistakes but they should be held accountable. He’s been a liability for years and they are using him for entertainment purposes." "His spending the next year behind bars is the best possible outcome for Mack and the kids’ safety," said the third.

One fan even commented, "This show ruined his life." Another compared, "Sadly another Aaron Carter in the making unless his friends and family stop enabling him and making excuses." A social media user said, "MTV and his parents enabling him. Nothing will change," to which one user commented, "I thought it was really scummy of Mtv to pay him to film at rehab. Was it because the fancy TX rehab paid to allow that? Sounds unethical and very bad for anyone’s treatment. Plus, they gave him money to buy drugs with." Another fan compared, "He obviously doesn’t want to get clean if this shit keeps happening. I feel like he’ll never hit his rock bottom unless his addiction kills him. Reminds me of Bam Margera."
