There has been a lot of criticism from a small section of fans that ‘Ted Lasso’ has lost its charm in Season 2. They believe the level of writing has gone down and the show doesn’t have the same charm anymore that it used to have during the first season. To be honest, the show has been doing really amazing in the ongoing season and fans are getting to see a lot of different series apart from just football. Meanwhile, the jokes are still funny and the show manages to find ways on how to uplift others.

So, the first six episodes of the seasons have been amazing. However, the ending of the previous one made everyone nervous and forced everyone to think if everything is okay with Ted. He left the stadium while his team was playing the quarter-final of the FA Cup against Tottenham Hotspur. The side won the game, but Ted was nowhere to be seen. In the end, we see the titular character sleeping on the couch of the therapist’s office and wanted to make an appointment.

The primary focus on the seventh episode is about Ted trying to tell the therapist, Dr. Sharon Fieldstone (Sarah Niles), what’s making him feel bad. He enters the room and tries to normalize everything by making awkward suggestions if he should be sitting or lying down while talking. The therapist says that sitting would be a wise idea. The entire sequence showed how vulnerable a person can be while talking about things that are bothering him or her. Not everyone can gather the courage to talk about it and Ted is one of them so he’s taking his time to avoid such conversations.

The conversation moves forward with the therapist saying he is “scared” of something and asks him why. Ted smiles and says that maybe he is scared to “learn the truth.” A few moments later, Ted loses his cool in a subtle manner and says that being in therapy is “bullshit” as he believes that a person who doesn’t know about him cannot solve the problems he’s facing. Ted also says that she does her work because she is paid to do so. He gets out of the office and trains with the team.

However, he returns to the therapist and sits down with her to talk about his issues. Sharon says that she was a little offended by what he said about his profession and asks him if he would coach a football team without getting paid. He says yes, but is quickly shut down by Sharon who asks him “are you?” She also says that getting paid will not be a reason for him to not care about his players. That’s how she sees her profession as well.

Ted feels sorry about what he said and feels a little more confident about the conversation. He is finally ready to share things with her, but it is still unknown what is bothering him.

The entire scenario of Ted being unable to share things with the therapist is timely. The world is going through a lot these days and the cases of mental health problems are increasing day after day. People need help to sort out their issues, but most of the time they are really nervous or scared of going to a therapist and get some help.

On the other hand, the makers through Sharon have told the world why taking therapy might be the best way to let your emotions out. The scene where Ted lets out his frustration about therapy is the perfect example of how he feels about something that he hasn’t experienced before, but that doesn’t mean that it won’t help in making things easier.

The episode might boost everyone dealing with mental health issues to buckle up and talk to someone about the difficulties they are facing in their lives. That one talk might be life-altering for anyone.

‘Ted Lasso’ continues to provide heart-warming stories through its titular character and those who believe that the show has lost its charm don’t know anything about the show.

‘Ted Lasso’ returns to Apple TV+ with a new episode every Friday at 12 am PST.
