'Miss Americana': Release date, plot, cast, trailer and all you need to know about the Taylor Swift documentary
The Netflix Original documentary film 'Miss Americana' premiered as part of the opening night gala at the ongoing Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah on January 23.
'Miss Americana' accounts for not only a deeper look into the star's personal life, but her new standpoint in dealing with the public eye, the media control over her life and music, her political views and her adopting a stronger persona in dealing with such obstacles.

It will be released on January 31, 2020.
Plot
Netflix describes 'Miss Americana' as a "raw and emotionally revealing look" at the pop singer during a "transformational period in her life as she learns to embrace her role not only as a songwriter and performer but as a woman harnessing the full power of her voice."
Netflix categorized it as provocative, inspiring and emotional. Taylor Swift also deals with the harshness of the internet and the public about being a celebrity and trying to be an artist in the face of such challenges.
In the official trailer, Swift describes how she has been put into a box of having to be a "nice girl" and make music that limits her full potential.
Where to watch
It will be available on the Netflix online platform and according to a poster that Swift shared, it will also play at select theaters (the exact ones haven't been announced yet).
Director / Producer
It was directed by Emmy Winner Lana Wilson and produced by Academy Award-winners Morgan Neville and Caitrin Rogers, and Christine O’Malley. Wilson won an Emmy for her 2013 documentary 'After Tiller'. Neville and Rogers both worked on American documentary film '20 Feet From Stardom' with Neville as director and Rogers as producer. O’Malley produced and co-wrote 2006 documentary 'Wordplay'.
Cast
The documentary will primarily focus on Taylor Swift herself, and amongst many others, some appearances include Swift's mother Andrea Swift and Panic! at the Disco frontman Brendon Urie. According to NME, Swift announced on January 22 that there will be a new song featured that has never been heard before, 'Only the Young'.
According to Parade, we will most likely get to hear 'Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince', which the documentary was named after which is a political track written after the midterm elections, 'Only the Young' is played during the film’s credits.
The documentary reportedly documents the singer's process of writing the song, which began after she witnessed the candidates she had backed in the 2018 US midterms lose their challenge; the candidates being Democratic Senate candidate Phil Bredesen and Democratic Congressman Jim Cooper.
'Only the Young' was described in a Variety article as an "anthem for millennials" and contains the lyrics: "You did all that you could do. The game was rigged, the ref got tricked. The wrong ones think they’re right/. We were outnumbered — this time."
