'Survivor: Winners at War' Season 40 kickstarted on Wednesday night. The stakes are higher and so is the paranoia of getting booted during the tribal council. The two-hour special included two eliminations that fans weren't expecting.

One of the two eliminations that had fans really upset and glad at the same time was when Amber Mariano got voted out. The 20 contestants this season have outwitted, outlasted and manipulated mostly everyone from their respective season, and returned once again to walk away with the title of the greatest survivor and $2 million.

This season, 'Survivor' has a new currency — fire tokens. Each contestant begins the game with one token each and as days go by they can find ways to earn more tokens. When eliminated, they should bequeath their tokens to someone else before they make their way to the Edge of Extinction.

Once they reach the Edge of Extinction, they will have to strive harder to survive and earn fire tokens. This will give them a chance to get back in the game. The first contestant to be eliminated and sent to the Edge of Extinction was Natalie from Sele.

For the next immunity challenge, the tribes set out on a boat brawl trying to collect tiles and get over the obstacles in order to complete three-ring tosses and win. While Sele was behind Dakal once again, they caught up and snagged the immunity by winning the challenge, which meant Dakal was heading over to the tribal council.

While Sandra Diaz has won 'Survivor' twice and is known as the queen, the target isn't on her back, but on Kim, Tyson, and Amber because of their poker alliance. But mainly the target was set on Amber because of her husband Boston Rob, who is in tribe Sele. Boston Rob and Amber met on 'Survivor: All-Stars'.

At first, their main target was Tyson, but during the tribal council, everyone turned their back on Amber and gave her the boot. This made her the first contestant to head over to the Edge of Extinction from Dakal.

This shocking elimination had fans upset at first, but later glad because they predicted that Amber will help Boston Rob from the Edge of Extinction.

Taking to Twitter a fan wrote, "I am super sad to see Amber out...but that can only help @BostonRobs game. Sorry Amber Loving Ethan/Parvati/Rob alliance! #oldschool #Survivor40."

Another said, "It’s gonna be SO interesting to see Amber and Rob’s dynamic with these fire tokens and the fact that players can offer advantages from the edge.  #Survivor40."

"Voting Amber out is good and bad for Rob. His target reduces now cos his wife is out and she'll send him all the advantages. Bad news is his wife is out, a number he could trust 100% #Survivor40 #Survivor," a fan shared.

Another wrote, "Right. My thoughts exactly. Those tokens change everything on Edge of Extinction. Now Rob can get advantages & Amber can potentially get back in the game later. #Survivor40."

"The tokens are a game-changer. Now that amber is on exile she can bequeath stuff to #bostonrob. THAT makes them a dangerous couple. Maybe she shouldn't have been voted off. #SurvivorWinnersAtWar #Survivor40 #WinnersatWar," a fan wrote.

Another said, "Amber getting voted out is going to set a fire under Rob's ass. Watch out folks, you’ve most likely woken the GOAT. #Survivor #SurvivorWinnersAtWar #Survivor40."
