'Survivor: Island of the Idols' Season 39 returned on Wednesday night, and while most of us wanted to pounce on Aaron and annihilate him for turning on the other three former Lairo tribe members and forming alliances with the Vokai tribe, he did the unexpected and saved himself in our books.

Wednesday night's episode of 'Survivor: Island of the Idols' definitely had us sitting on the edge of our seats. From the reward challenge to the immunity challenge, the most anxious part was the tribal council where we never knew how sides would turn.

The Lairo tribe had won only one challenge to date, leaving Vokai in the lead for most of it. While Vokai aced the reward challenge, things took a turn during the immunity challenge, and Vokai ended up losing in what was a close win for Lairo.

But that wasn't the icing on the cake. The most nailbiting part of tonight's episode was the tribal council where Elaine had the advantage to block a vote of one member from her tribe.

Though Aaron was ready to turn on his former Lairo tribe and join the Vokai tribe members, in eliminating Elaine, things didn't go the way they planned.

With Elaine's advantage in her hand, she managed to make it through another night of tribal council. Aaron, in the last minute, decides to change his mind and stick with his former tribe members, and vote Jason out.

This decision was something the Vokai tribe members didn't see coming after he assured them he would do anything to gain their trust.

Seeing Jason go out shocked everyone, especially the Vokai tribe members. If looks could kill, Tommy's look to Aaron would have killed us all.

Taking to Twitter post the episode, fans couldn't help but rave about how Wednesday's episode was the best.

"I've been watching #survivor since season 1 episode 1, this #survivorislandoftheidols has been crazy and the exact reason why I've been watching for 19yrs," wrote a fan.

"@survivorcbs @JeffProbst This was hands down, my favorite episode this season. That tribal & the suspense of if anyone would flip was epic," shared a fan.

"But the conversation between Jamal (@JamManK9) & Jack was one of the most beautiful scenes from any reality show I’ve ever seen! #Survivor", the fan added.

Adding to that another said, "That was the most nerve racking episode by far. I’m not that surprise this happened yet this season has such one of the strongest premerge gameplay I’ve seen in a while. Blindside after Blindside. #Survivor."

'Survivor' Season 39 airs every Wednesday night on CBS. Check your local listings for more information.
