'Supergirl' Season 5: Lena Luthor may want to fix humanity but the move could have devastating results

While it is understandable that Lena, who has been hurt and betrayed wants a world without hurt, her methods of creating such a world could lead to chaos and in some way, is partly evil

This article contains spoilers for 'Supergirl' season 5, episode 2: 'Stranger Beside Me'

Lena Luthor (Katie McGrath) has plans to change and "fix" humanity and in her quest to make human beings a lot better, she intends to reprogram people to rid them of their feelings to hurt one another.

She finds a subject to experiment with in Eve Teschmacher (Andrea Brooks). She kidnaps Eve in season five's opening episode and works with her throughout the second in a bid to earn her loyalty.

Her project is codenamed 'Non-Nocere' — 'Do no Harm' as her AI Hope helpfully puts it. Eve is fitted with a brain-mapping device that allows Lena to install Hope in her to make her a physical version of an AI.

"I needed to locate and highlight the centers of your brain that trigger honesty and loyalty, so Hope knows where to go," Lena explains while the procedure is underway.

At that point, Hope's nanites swarm Eve, penetrating her brain, and transforming her into a flesh-and-blood version of Hope.

While it is understandable that Lena, who has been hurt and betrayed wants a world without hurt, her methods of creating such a world could lead to chaos and in some way, is partly evil.

To begin with, she transforms Eve forcefully and if that is her plan and approach, she could walk further down the dark path. There is also the possibility of this experiment going horribly wrong leading to catastrophic results.

Additionally, this move could also set up Hope as one of the supervillains Team Supergirl may have to combat. Not to mention, Hope could possibly even turn on Lena.

Technology has been one of the key plot points so far in the new season and Hope/Eve's transformation is sure to play a key role over the course of the series.

What are your thoughts on Lena's motive to evolve Eve? 'Supergirl' airs on Sundays 9 pm ET on The CW.
