Super Junior's Manila concert canceled after Eunhyuk's father dies, devastated fans send prayers
The sudden demise of Super Junior's (SuJu) Eunhyuk's (also known as Lee Hyukjae) father has shocked not only his bandmates, but fans of the second-gen boy group all over the world. On Saturday, August 6, it was reported that Eunhyuk lost his father just hours after the rapper released a video on his YouTube channel in which his father made a brief appearance.
Label SJ, the company that manages Eunhyuk, shared their official position on the development and informed fans of his upcoming activities. The boy group was all set to host a concert in Manila on the same day as Eunhyuk lost his father. Super Junior's Eunhyuk loses his father
As Eunhyuk mourns the loss of his father, he will not attend the scheduled Super Junior World Tour-Super Show 9 Manila Concert (SUPER SHOW9: ROAD in MANILA). The agency concluded its statement by saying, "For the safety of all, we politely decline any visits and flowers, and ask for your kind consideration to allow Eunhyuk plenty of privacy and time to mourn." On the other hand, the label also informed that the band's upcoming performance in Manila was to be canceled to respect th rapper's loss. However, patrons with tickets will be able to meet the other Super Junior members for a meet and greet session.
The agency added that Eunhyuk was unable to leave for the concert which was why the members decided to cancel their performances and instead were looking forward to meeting their fans. Super Junior debuted in 2005 under the label SM Entertainment and over the years, the bonds between band members have deepened and they are almost like a family. This was why when reports about Eunhyuk's father emerged, fans spotted the rest of the members at the airport in a state of shock and sadness as they were leaving for the concert.
'He needs his members now'
Fans are sharing their condolences with Eunhyuk, his family as well as the other SuJu members who also lost a father figure. One fan said, "I hope you find peace in your new world right now... please take care and give strength to EUNHYUK from up there... I'm sure you must be proud to have a child like HYUKJAE." Another fan said, "As far as we know, Eunhyuk’s father wasn’t sick. The devastating news of his passing is so sudden and it honestly hurts my heart. On the other hand, it makes me think about how we can lose our loved ones in a blink of an eye with no warning. So please appreciate your loved ones."
One fan said, "Many people don't know but in October 2013 #Eunhyuk's dad had a myocardial infarction which leads to immediate death but back then he survived and was rushed to emerge and had a stunt put in days later he moved to ICU and was on medication. In August 2022 he left us..." Another fan said, "Eunhyuk's family brought us so much joy and made us feel that we're a part of them by sharing private moments with us.. as a fan for over a decade, I was able to witness how supportive his parents are, esp his father. Prayers for Lee family and may he rest in peace."
A fan added, "Much respect for leeteuk seeing that video of leeteuk running to each car so the news would reach each member personally about Eunhyuk father passing." One more fan said, "Now that we know the story behind this situation. Eveyrone must be really sad and feel hurt that they can't be there physically for Eunhyuk. Kyuhyun trying his best to hold his emotion. We know that it's really hurt for you coz you can't be there for him." One fan said, "Thank you @SJofficial. At this time Eunhyuk needs the Members more than ever."
