Spoilers for 'Star Wars' Season 7 Episode 8 'Together Again'

Considering the failed escape last episode, this episode has a little bit of pressure added to it in terms of giving the last episode value to the plot, and it does so, admirably. While one could, conceivably, have skipped the last episode to get to the part where Ahsoka Tano (Ashley Ecskein), Rafa Martez (Elizabeth Rodriguez) and Trace Martez (Brigitte Kali Canales) actually escape, the impact of some of the episode's smaller moments would have been lost.

The episode tries harder than usual to draw attention to those moments, in fact, with a minor narrative cheat as the narrator (Tom Kane) states explicitly just what Ahsoka's inner conflict is.

The episode sets up big events to come, as we learn that Darth Maul (Sam Witwer) has been the mastermind behind the spice trade. It's wonderful to see him return to the show. Even as a hologram, he has a villainous gravitas that this season has been missing.

Also notable this episode is how much Rafa has turned around on Ahsoka. She's been increasingly distrustful of Ahsoka and her high moral standards, but seeing Ahsoka stick to her morals to see Rafa and Trace escape at the risk of her own life has a criminal as practically minded as Rafa go out of her way to return the favor. The action scene with both sisters left a little to be desired — something about the animation felt more sluggish than usual — but the complete turnaround for Rafa was a pleasant surprise.

The escape attempt Ahsoka makes this episode is a little more thrilling now that we've seen just how much the Martez sisters were holding her back. The sisters finding that Ahsoka was a Jedi has a lot more impact after the story they shared on 'Dangerous Debt.'

'Together Again' is a great episode that brings a very satisfying conclusion to Ahsoka's detour into the underworld of the 'Star Wars' universe. As Rafa points out, Ahsoka may have left the Jedi Order, but that doesn't mean she left their principles behind. In fact, given how far the Jedi have fallen from their ideals, Ahsoka may be the only one still truly holding them up.

With the return of Bo Katan (Katee Sackhoff), we see exactly how Ahsoka is being drawn back in to the events of 'The Clone Wars.' The detour she's taken the past few episodes was an important one, giving definition to the person she is outside of the Jedi Order.

The next episode of 'Star Wars' releases April 17, on Disney+.
