'Star Wars: The Clone Wars' has returned after a long absence and its final season is in full swing. Episode 2 sees Anakin Skywalker (Matt Lanter) arguably the central figure in the entire prequel era of 'Star Wars' join the mission to rescue Echo.

The official synopsis for the episode reads: "Believing that MIA soldier Echo may still be alive, Rex's mission becomes doubly important. Alongside the Bad Batch and Anakin Skywalker, the clone captain launches a dangerous covert rescue." The 'Star Wars' official YouTube site has released a short clip from the episode, featuring Anakin, the Bad Batch, and dropping in on Skako, to be confronted with some of the more dangerous locals there. You can watch the clip here:

The clip sees Anakin taken away by the lizard-worshipping locals, but the Bad Batch are apparently prepared for ANY scenario as they hook a grappling gun to the nearest captor and let Hunter (Dee Bradley Baker) be pulled along in its wake. The Bad Batch and Anakin should be an interesting mix as Anakin is more used to commanding Clone Troops with a little more uniformity and Clone Force 99 is anything but. Also accompanying them is Captain Rex (Dee Bradley Baker) for whom this mission is incredibly personal.

When Rex last saw Echo (Dee Bradley Baker), he had left him to die to escape from The Citadel and that guilt has obviously never left him. Now that he knows Echo is alive, Rex might just stop at nothing in order to rescue his friend. It's a good thing Anakin is there with Rex because Anakin knows a thing or two about making decisions based on strong feelings.

All of it is a moot point, however, until Anakin and his clone troopers can figure out a way to extricate themselves from the locals without giving away their cover.

'A Distant Echo' releases February 28, on Disney+.
