'Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker': #jjabramsisoverparty trends on Twitter as fans bash director over alleged leaks
So someone thought it would be a great idea to spoil the ending of 'Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker' after watching it during the world premiere on December 17. Those spoilers have now led a number of fans to take to social media, unleashing their rage on the movie's director JJ Abrams.
We're not going to get into the actual spoilers because A) that would just ruin it for everyone, and B) we won't know if the spoilers are even real until we actually watch it ourselves. Let's just say, it looks like the movie changes a few things from its immediate predecessor, 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi'. Since that movie also received a lot of flak from the fans, it would seem Abrams tried to please one faction of the fans and accidentally unleashed even more criticism from a number of others.
Justified or not, #jjabramsisoverparty is trending on Twitter, with the tweets ranging from people who claim to have seen the movie complaining about the ending and lack of romance (because apparently that's what they were looking for in a 'Star Wars' movie) to people just generally slamming Abrams, Disney, and the 'Star Wars' sequels as a whole. Here are some of the tweets shared by enraged fans:
"#jjabramsisoverparty Disney and Jar Jar Abrams, as well as Ruin Johnson, can burn, Disney has become uncreative and dull pushing identity politics as well as having to buy other franchises like @Marvel and @starwars only to ruin them I miss the old Disney of the 2000’s..." tweeted @JLucario2.
"People are tweeting #jjabramsisoverparty and spoiling junk so avoid it the hashtag. Whatever happens in RoS, the hashtag is worth it since JJ Abrams dumped the middle movie of the trilogy onto Rian Johnson after setting up 1000 mysteries and cliffhangers he had no resolution for" wrote @ChongoTweet.
"#jjabramsisoverparty Star Wars should have stayed dead in 1983. Hollywood is trash and doesn't have the balls to tell radical stories. It's for normies who don't want to read real fantasy/sci-fi authors and need everything turned into Junk Food," added @anarchosorcerer.
As for us, we're going to reserve our judgments until 'Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker' arrives in theaters on December 20.
