'Skin Decision: Before and After': Cassie regains her confidence without surgery thanks to Dr Nazarian
When Cassie first walked into plastic surgeon Dr Sheila Nazarian and Nurse Jamie's office, her self-confidence and self-worth were at an all-time low. In her introduction video, Cassie explains how she resorted to food all her life as a way to deal with her emotions. She used food as her coping mechanism which quickly led her to gain some extra pounds. When she realized that she had put on a lot of weight, she worked towards losing the extra flab.
But after shedding the extra pounds, Cassie was left with a lot of loose, hanging skin around her body. So, she once again starting eating to cover that up and the cycle repeated. Cassie finally lost the weight yet again and was left with excessive skin. The hanging skin led to her feeling very conscious of herself and her appearance. After her consultation with Dr Nazarian and Nurse Jamie, Cassie was filled with hope that her body can be fixed. She was over the moon until Dr Nazarian reminds her that she still has to get some tests done to ensure that she's a suitable candidate for the surgery she had planned for Cassie.
The test results reveal that Cassie had a problem with blood clots and she was also suffering from anemia. When she hears her test results, Cassie gets very disappointed but Dr Nazarian encourages her not to give up on her dreams and prescribes her some iron supplements and suggests dietary changes to bring her iron levels up. Dr Nazarian also ensures that once her iron levels are better they can consider performing the surgery on her. Cassie hangs on to Dr Nazarian's reassuring words and does everything she can to bring her iron levels up. At the same time, she also begins pursuing her passion for writing songs and singing.
Soon, Cassie's iron levels began improving, but Dr Nazarian wanted them to improve a bit more before the surgery. Although by the end of 'Skin Decision: Before & After' episode, Cassie hadn't gotten her surgery, she was filled with hope, gratitude, and most importantly self-worth. Cassie explains in her final interview how the whole process changed her for better. She expresses that she might not have changed externally, but internally she had changed quite a bit. She expresses gratitude to Dr Nazarian, and how the consultation with her changed her life for the better. Before the closing credits, we get an update that Cassie is still working with Dr Nazarian to get her surgery done when her health improves. We can't wait to see Cassie after her surgery and couldn't be happier for her.
