In the first 'Sister Wives' one-on-one special airing on Sunday December 18, Meri Brown 51, admits that her 32-year marriage to Kody, 53, is over. Meri listens to a clip of Kody admitting he doesn't think of himself as her husband while speaking with the host Sukanya Krishnan. He tells the cameras in a confessional, "If she wanted to move on and marry another, she wouldn't get an argument with me."

Sukanya then inquires about Meri and how she is affected by her husband's remarks. "It just doesn't make sense to me that he would be so frustrated with Christine [Brown] and be like, 'She just made this decision. We didn't consult, we didn't talk, she just made the decision and then he says, 'No, I don't consider myself married to Meri,'" 'Sister Wives' star says. "Like, he just made the decision. I've never heard him say that to me."

What is the 'catfish' incident? 'Sister Wives' star Kody Brown says it drove wedge between him and Meri Brown

Page Six reported, after more than 25 years of marriage, Christine and Kody announced their separation in November 2021. Kody and his third wife Janelle Brown also confirmed their separation in a sneak peek for the upcoming tell-all special that was released on December 11.

Meri claims that although her marriage to Kody has been troublesome for years, the end has been terrible. "Even since being in Flagstaff, he has led me to believe that he was trying," she details. "You know, our first anniversary that we had here in Flagstaff, it was cheers to a new beginning as opposed to this last anniversary he's like, 'I don't even know why you called me Meri.' He's like, 'We're not married. We're not acting as married.'" Meri added, "I said to him, 'Then if that's where we are, don't you think that we should address that publicly?' And he said, 'No I don't want to address it. I don't want that to be out there publicly because I don't want that judgment.'"

Next, the interviewer queries Meri, "Where does that leave you? Are you still married to Kody? Or, do you get to decide?" The star replies, "Well, he's already made the decision. You just saw him say that." Meri claims she's still open to working things out despite their long marriage nearing its end. "Would you ever think about reconciliation," questions Krishnan as Meri responds, "I would. I definitely would. But I don't think that he's interested."

Meanwhile, the internet reacts to news of Meri's split with her husband Kody. One user tweeted, "I know Meri is heartbroken, but now she can get some healing." Another user wrote, "Pretty sure this is what Kody wanted all along; 3 wives gone and he’s left legally married to the one he’s wanted to be all along. He’s a loser. Meri is better off with her friend Jen." One person tweeted, "They should rename it Surviving Sister Wives." Another person wrote,"what! that's good news actually, good for her." Another user said, "I can’t believe she’d want to stay with him." One person penned, "Can I assume they’ll be changing the name of the show to ‘Wife’?" Another one wrote, "Kody didn’t love her for a long time, and it sad that she never realized that. But Meri life will be so much better without him."
