Mariah Brown started loving herself more after she accepted herself for who she is, but it was a long journey to this acceptance. On today's (March 15) episode of 'Sister Wives', Mariah opened up about how her ideology towards life changed as she grew up. She revealed that while growing up, she was devoted to her family church and wanted to follow the footsteps that were laid out by them.

Mariah confessed that coming out to herself was the time when she had to put in a lot of strength and courage. She confessed that even though she is grateful for everything that her family taught her, things were not always easy for her. Coming from a family that was religious, coming out and accepting one's sexuality was a hard task she had in hand at that time.

"It was hard for me to be gay and religious at the same time," she said. Mariah confessed that the biggest change in her life came when her family moved to Las Vegas. She felt she had the strength to face herself and the family with her sexuality. Mariah admitted that things would have been different had they had not moved.

She fears that she would have then married a man and lived with him for a while, hating her life and then eventually heading out to take a leave. She recalled that when she came out to her family, her father, Kody Brown had been supportive of her while her mother, Meri was not too pleased to hear this.

Mariah revealed that Kody had pulled her aside and revealed that God only says one thing, "You Love, I Judge" and with this, he made it clear that he loved Mariah no matter what her sexuality was. Mariah stated that she felt the comfort that she longed for with her family as she was not getting the same with the church.

She confessed that when one is following a religious church, one has to follow the rules that have been written down by them and if one doesn't, they are not respected in the way they would hope to be respected. Fortunately, Mariah had a family that loved her, no matter what.

Despite this, Meri found it hard to accept Mariah's choice. Meri found it hard to understand how one could spend the rest of their life with another woman and have a family. She thought that biologically it was not possible and thus, seemed hesitant to accept it. However, years after this incident, Meri feels blessed to have sister wives who loved Mariah and supported her.

Years after coming out to her family, Mariah now feels happy to be in love with herself and having her fiance, Audrey beside her, while also being supported by her family.

'Sister Wives' airs on Sundays at 10 pm ET on TLC.
