Fans of Miley Cyrus are in for a delight as the 'Wrecking Ball' hitmaker is gearing up to release her seventh studio album in November 2020. In a report by magazine Music Week, the release date of the pop star's next album has been postponed – it was supposed to release earlier this year – but will now be dropping in November. The Music Week piece is about the biggest albums yet to drop before the end of 2020.

The title of the record, yet to be officially confirmed, was widely reported to be 'She Is Miley Cyrus'. The magazine also notes that the lead single from the record, 'Midnight Sky', has held the #1 spot on United Kingdom's airplay for the last four weeks! This makes 'Midnight Sky' Miley's first UK Top 10 single since 2017. Recently, Miley's cover of 'Heart of Glass' by Blondie became her 19th UK Top 40 single.

Now Cyrus, in a post on her official Twitter handle, has revealed that the title of her upcoming album will be 'Plastic Hearts'. The singer tweeted, "PLASTIC HEARTS OUT NOVEMBER 27th." Providing more information about the album and its cover, she wrote, "'Plastic Heart' cover was shoot by Mick Rock who has worked with the most iconic people on the industry like Debbie Harry, David Bowie, Madonna, Joan Jett, Ramones, Freddie Mercury and a lot more icons. #PlasticHearts"

The news of the album release is surprising because Miley recently, in an interview with French radio station NRJ, said that she was in no rush to release a new record as she enjoyed releasing one-off singles over the past two years. But, with this latest report, her fans have a reason to feel excited. The album is expected to feature production by Andrew Watt, who produced 'Midnight Sky'. Also, in August, Miley confirmed that she worked on a new song, titled 'High', with Mark Ronson.

In the same interview with NRJ, Miley spoke about 'Plastic Hearts' saying, "It’s like I feel something. I experience it. I write it. I release it. When you write a record, a lot of the time you’re writing your experiences, and then by the time the record comes out, you’ve evolved past that experience." She also explained how Metallica and Britney Spears inspired her upcoming project: "In my sets, I cover Britney Spears to Metallica, so my record will be reflective of who I am, which is just kind of all different pieces of inspiration and influence."

Tracklist

The final tracklist for 'Plastic Hearts' is unconfirmed as of yet. It's currently compiled with help of recent singles, snippets, and song titles sourced from streaming services and social media. Consisting of 13 tracks, the upcoming album will be released via RCA Records. Talking about the style of the upcoming album with Vanity Fair back in 2019, Miley said, "I like to kind of just be genderless, I like feeling genre-less. So this album will be kind of a mosaic of all the things that I’ve been before."

The purported tracklist is as follows:

'CNL' featuring Dua Lipa
'Midnight Sky'
'American Violence'
'Coldblood'
'Naked'
'Angels Like You'
'WTF Do I Know'
'Gimme More'
'Night Crawling' featuring Billy Idol
High featuring Mark Ronson
'Win Some, Lose Some'
'Victoria'
'Plastic Hearts'

'CNL', which is said to feature Dua Lipa, is alternatively titled 'If I Fall' and was first posted as a snippet on Miley's Instagram story. 'Midnight Sky' is an officially released single. A solo version of the track 'Naked' can be heard here. 'Angels Like You' is a ballad recorded by the singer during her 'She Is Miley Cyrus' sessions whereas 'WTF Do I Know' was leaked online in May 2020. 'Gimme More' is a Britney Spears cover while 'Night Crawling', featuring Billy Idol was also leaked online. 'High' was officially announced by the singer but hasn't been officially released. 'Win Some, Lose Some', on the other hand, was also leaked online, and later removed, and is about her split with long-time partner Liam Hemsworth. 'Victoria', too, was teased on her Instagram story and was, earlier, intended for Victoria's Secret project but couldn't materialize. The song was then reworked by the star. The last track, 'Plastic Hearts', was teased by Miley in an Instagram Live.

'Plastic Hearts' is the follow-up to her 2019 EP 'She Is Coming'. It will be her first proper album since 2017’s 'Younger Now'. Miley performed "Midnight Sky" at the 2020 MTV VMAs, and also covered Hall & Oates' classic 'Maneater' on 'The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon'. She’ll also be appearing on Dolly Parton’s new album 'A Holly Dolly Christmas'.
