Discovery Channel's Shark Week programming is now in its 32nd edition — the special series of programs on sharks is a big viewer honeytrap for the network and Shark Week has often been called Discovery's "Superbowl." This year's programming also features several celebrities like Mike Tyson, Shaquille O'Neal, Will Smith, Adam Devine and Snoop Dogg. The specials by Tyson, Shaq, Smith and Devine have all performed fairly well. What remains to be seen is how Snoop Dogg's 'Sharkadelic Summer' would do.

The network is being very secretive about 'Sharkadelic Summer' and the details of the special have been kept strictly under wraps so there is not much information floating around about what fans can expect from the special. The description for the special — which was earlier called 'Jaws in America' — states, "Snoop Dogg takes a look at why Great White Sharks are taking up residence along America's shores. Will this be the 'sharkiest' summer in US history? In this special, Snoop will breakdown the craziest shark encounters caught on tape, marvel at the wild and unpredictable reactions, and meet with the leading experts who are trying to unlock the secrets behind this great white shark invasion."

While it is true that the number of great white sharks seem to be increasing along the shores of the United States, this has partly been attributed to climate change and warmer waters. Seals are sharks' favorite food — with just the right amount of fat content that is necessary to fuel a shark's powerful muscles — and as temperatures climb each year, seals seem to be migrating more to the north, leading their predators to follow behind them. Of course, we may just be noticing more sharks because we are paying more attention. It is important to remember that sharks are endangered because they are often hunted for their meat and fins.

We may have an idea about how Snoop Dogg's adventure with sharks may go, however. Back in 2014, Snoop Dogg took part in a series of sketches called 'Plizzanet Earth' for ABC's 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' where Snoop Dogg narrated over clips from the nature documentary 'Planet Earth'. In one entertaining sketch where Snoop Dogg narrated about sharks, you can hear him saying, "OK, what is this? This is a seal. What is he doin' acting like a dolphin?" When he sees a great white shark swallow a seal, he goes, "Damn, look at that jaw!" and even says, "Damn, he didn’t even chew BLEEEEEP he just swallowed. That’s cold-blooded, man."

If the 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' sketch is any indication, we can expect a lot more bleeps in the hour-long 'Sharkadelic Summer'. 'Sharkadelic Summer' airs on Discovery Channel on August 13 at 9/8c. Watch the 'Plizzanet Earth' clip below.
