'Shark Tank' Season 15: I Love Chamoy founder Annie Leal turns down Kevin O'Leary's 'blood-sucking offer'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Many condiment firms have come and gone on 'Shark Tank', like Sienna Sauce's wing slathers and Slice of Sauce's solidified ketchup.
The 'Shark Tank' investors got a chance to sample I Love Chamoy's sugar-free Mexican sauces during Season 15, but things didn't turn out the way everyone would have hoped.
I Love Chamoy entrepreneur Annie Leal requested $300,000 for a 5 percent stake in her firm. Chamoy is a classic Mexican sweet sauce that may be found in a variety of cuisines.
Annie's feast is different from typical chamoy in that it is sugar-free, carb-free, and low in calories. Her company is a love letter to her heritage and the confectionery she grew up with.
Annie has now made $1.3 million in sales from her sweet sauce alone. She uses little promotion and sells straight to customers.
Barbara Corcoran and Lori Greiner refused to strike a deal, but Kevin O'Leary was eager. Mark Cuban stated that the product was not "his taste," so he walked away from making a deal.
Jason Blum said that he couldn't contribute any knowledge and pulled out. Mr Wonderful was the final Shark remaining, offering $300,000 in exchange for 15% ownership.
Kevin was giving Annie $300,000 for a 15% share, which was far more than Annie offered. The Sharks cautioned Annie against handing Kevin such a huge stake in their firm.
Annie was attempting to talk Kevin down from 15% to 12.5 percent, but he refused. "Stick to your guns, Annie!" Mark provided advice.
Annie was unwilling to give Kevin a 12.5 percent ownership in her firm, so she walked away from the arrangement.
Despite Kevin's disappointment, the rest of the Sharks praised her for not succumbing to Mr Wonderful.
On her way out, Annie revealed that she said no because it was a "blood-sucking offer."
