Selena Gomez ‘Spiral’: Release date, cast, trailer and all the buzz around Drake’s psychological thriller

Two of the music industry’s biggest icons -- Selena Gomez and Drake -- are finally coming together for a project, but before you steer into a different direction - no, it is not for a song but for a psychological thriller. Yes, Selena is all set to star in a movie called ‘Spiral’, which will be executively produced by hip-hop stalwart Drake.

The award-winning songstress has earlier acted in movies like ‘Ramona and Beezus’ (2010), ‘Monte Carlo’ (2011), and ‘Spring Breakers’ (2012) along with a few other projects; therefore, it will be interesting to see Gomez once again showing her acting prowess in front of the camera. The singer-songwriter also wrapped up Hulu's ‘Only Murders In The Building’ recently. Drake, on the other hand, had also executively produced HBO’s award-winning show ‘Euphoria’ in 2020.

Release date

With the film being announced recently, ‘Sprial’ is yet to get a release date from the makers. Currently, the project is in its early production stages. MEAWW will keep you posted. 

Plot

According to Deadline, ‘Spiral’ will follow a former influencer who is addicted to social media which ultimately causes her body to fall apart. The website also reported that the story and the original script were penned by Melissa Broder and Petra Collins, along with additional revisions by Phoebe Fisher.



 

Cast

The creators have only announced Selena in the lead, as of now,  and the rest of the star cast is yet to be announced.

The actress and singer first rose to fame with Disney’s award-winning show ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’ which aired from 2007 to 2012. She is a multiple award-winning crooner and is best known for her hit singles like ‘Come & Get It’, ‘The Heart Wants What It Wants’, ‘Good for You’, ‘Same Old Love’, ‘Hands to Myself’, ‘We Don't Talk Anymore’ with Charlie Puth, ‘It Ain't Me’ with Kygo, and ‘Lose You to Love Me’. Apart from tasting success in music, she has also served as executive producer for the Netflix TV series ‘13 Reasons Why’ and ‘Living Undocumented’.

Creators

Deadline reports that Picturestart will produce the newly-announced psychological thriller ‘Spiral’. Petra Collins will be taking over the project as the director whereas, Matthew Budman and Sumaiya Kaveh will be producing through their Forest Hill Entertainment. Along with Drake as the executive producer, Future the Prince aka Adel Nur will also be involved in the same role. Drake and Nur earlier worked on ‘Euphoria’ together. According to the same website, Endeavor Content has come on board as the sales agent who will be pitching it to all the major streaming platforms.
