Selena Gomez reveals lupus medication makes her hands 'shake' as fans notice 'unsteady' makeup clip
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: It may have been nearly a decade since Selena Gomez received her lupus diagnosis, but the 'Who Says' hitmaker is still being asked about it. Gomez felt compelled to speak out about her condition after observant fans on TikTok questioned her unsteady makeup application in a now-deleted video. She had admitted that her hands "shake" due to her medication and are therefore not stable.
In the TikTok clip shared earlier this month, Gomez gave an important insight into her makeup and skincare routine. While explaining her routine, the singer and actress tried to put some micellar water on a sponge, but her hands seemed very unsteady. At this point, she confirmed that it was due to her lupus medication. The 'Only Murders in the Building' actress received her lupus diagnosis in 2014.

The singer responded to a comment left by a troll on her TikTok page that made fun of her having unsteady hands, saying, "Lol, I shake because of my medication for lupus." She then continued, "Also, read my disclaimer. I ain't no pro."
The video was captioned, “PSA I got most of these products free. I ain’t just rolling like that everywhere. Use any serum to take off make up before washing. It breaks it up nicely. Also use a sponge to wipe eyes to treat eyes delicately when removing make up. K I'm done pretending I know what I'm talking about,” according to The News.
The 30-year-old Gomez has been very vocal about her problems since her lupus diagnosis and has raised awareness of the disease through various media outlets. “My lupus, my kidney transplant, chemotherapy, having a mental illness, going through very public heartbreaks- these were all things that honestly should have taken me down,” she said to Elle. “Every time I went through something, I was like, What else? What else am I going to have to deal with? You’re going to help people",' she told herself. 'That’s really what kept me going. There could have been a time when I wasn’t strong enough, and would have done something to hurt myself.”
The singer went through a kidney transplant in 2017 and had spoken about it, saying, "I just kept thinking about how much my body is my own. [After the surgery] I had this sense of gratitude for myself. I don't think I've ever just stopped and been like, 'I'm actually grateful for who I am."
