Saweetie doesn’t believe in returning gifts to ex Quavo, fans say ‘she’s right’

The 27-year-old, who had quite a public break-up with Quavo in March 2021, had received two expensive Birkin bags in July 2020

Saweetie, who has been recently the center of all the drama after her break-up with rapper Quavo from Migos, recently shared that she doesn’t believe in returning gifts even after the relationship is over. Sitting in an exclusive interview with pop culture publication Complex, the ‘Icy Grl’ hitmaker stated that if the gift is for her then it will stay hers.

The 27-year-old, who had quite a public break-up with Quavo in March 2021, had received two expensive Birkin bags in July 2020 along with a swanky Bentley a few months later. Saweetie might not have returned the bags but it was rumored that Quavo had sent a repo man to collect back the luxurious ride after things between the two went sour. Even though it was reported that Quavo never sent anyone to get the car back he recently rapped about taking it back in his song ‘Having Our Way’ featuring Drake from Migos’ album ‘Culture III’.

‘I mean…if it’s mine, it’s mine’, says Saweetie

While discussing breakup etiquette, the interviewer had asked Saweetie if a person should give back the gifts their ex gave them after a breakup. The female emcee responded with a confident answer saying, “I mean…if it’s mine, it’s mine.” The interviewer also noticed that the Birkin bag was right there with her as the interviewer had said before getting the answer from her, “I already know the answer to this question, because the mint-green Birkin bag Quavo bought her is sitting between us,”

Post her break-up with Qauvo, both the artists seemed to have taken potshots at each other. While Quavo recently claimed he took the Bentley back with the lyrics, “She had it her way, now she out of a Bentley” from the song ‘Having Our Way’. He also rapped, “Lil’ bitty bi**h, she slimy, she sneaky/I’m takin’ back that Bentley.” Saweetie also apparently threw a shade in one of her recently released tracks called ‘See Saw’. In the song, she rapped, “Feelin’ dangerous, I thought you was my anchor/ But you ain’t sht and on some real sht, tell me what the problem is/Say he gon’ do better but it’s always just the opposite/How you fumble the baddest b*ch, are you a dumb n**a? You got nerve selling me all these threats when you wrong, that’s a big trigger/How you figure? Ain’t the woman that you thought? You was humpin’ thots, f*kin’ narcissist, you just mad you got caught.”

 

‘A gift is a gift’

Social media users had a few words to spare for Saweetie’s recent comment on returning the gifts after a breakup. Speaking on the same, one user stated, “Quavo and saweetie gift situation like she should’ve never accepted a cheating gift and he should’ve just broke up the relationship that he didn’t want with her anymore.” Another shared, “Saweetie’s right, a gift is a gift, I’m not giving s**t back.”
 
The next one posted, “Idgaf how yall try to put it but bih you know damn well you ain’t keeping no Bentley this not no gah damn pandora bracelet.” One user added, “I agree. If you gifted it to me. You shouldn't take it back unless it's an engagement ring. You can have that back.” One tweeted, “Saweetie sitting somewhere pretty eating seafood while Quavo shades her on the migos album”, whereas, another concluded, “Lol Saweetie isn’t even a singer to be considered how you let a man take back the Bentley he got for you.”
