Marvel fans rejoice! ‘Deadpool 3’ is in the works.

On December 24, Ryan Reynolds made an appearance on the daytime talk show ‘Live With Kelly and Ryan’. Speaking to the hosts, Reynolds said, “Yeah we're working on it right now with the whole team. We're over at Marvel now, which is like the big leagues all of a sudden. It's kinda crazy. So yeah, we're working on it.”

He also spoke about meeting Mariah Carrey. Reynolds said, “I was terrified. I could barely speak… I blacked out for the entire period. Her son is a ‘Deadpool’ fan. I brought him the ‘Deadpool’ mask.”

While he did not go into specifics, it is nonetheless exciting news. ‘Deadpool’ has found both global popularity -- owing it its R-rated humor -- and financial success; both ‘Deadpool’ films the highest-grossing in the ‘X-Men’ series, collectively earning approximately $1.5 billion at the worldwide box office.

According to ScreenRant, earlier this year when Disney acquired Marvel, there was talk of discontinuing the series. During San Diego Comic-Con 2019, Marvel Studios unveiled their “Phase 4” and confirmed other films starring the Fantastic Four and the X-Men were in the works.

Back in August, there were reports of Disney debating whether Ryan Reynolds’ foul-mouthed Wade Wilson could move between the R-rated ‘Deadpool’ solo movies and PG-13 team-ups in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The confirmation of ‘Deadpool 3’ and the film franchise now being under the Disney banner can definitely mean seeing Wade Wilson poking fun at the Avengers, something that can only be good.

Of course one has to consider how Josh Brolin’s character in the films will fit in with the other Marvel movies. After all, Brolin has played the role of Cable in ‘Deadpool 2’ and Thanos in the ‘Avengers’ film series.

'Deadpool' creator Rob Liefeld expressed his excitement at the news about the film. He tweeted, "Time to break out the gin!!!"

No release date, plot or any other details of the upcoming ‘Deadpool’ film has been announced.
