Australian electronic plunderphonics group The Avalanches have unveiled their new song called 'Running Red Lights' with its accompanying music video, which features Rivers Cuomo, the lead vocalist of Weezer, and rapper Pink Siifu on March 18. The new video for 'Running Red Lights' was directed by Greg Brunkalla and comes as a dedication to David Berman.

Berman was an acclaimed American musician, singer, poet, and cartoonist who passed away last year at age 52. He was commonly known for his work with indie-rock bands the Silver Jews and Purple Mountains, and whose experimental, poetic recordings during the 1990s and 2000s embodied American indie rock at its most literate.

In 'Running Red Lights' Pink Siifu raps the lyrics for Berman's Purple Mountains song 'Darkness and Cold'. "The light of my life is going out tonight in a pink champagne Corvette. The light in my life is going out tonight without a flicker of regret (Without a flicker of regret, dude). I sleep three feet above the street in a pink champagne Corvette. Fly out into space, listen to the music the stars are making. Without a flicker of regret," she raps.

Brunkalla spoke about the new music video in a statement, according to Pitchfork. He says,  “This was the second video I did with the Avalanches, but the first time I actually met Robbie [Chater] and Tony [Di Blasi] in person".  He goes on, "For ‘Running Red Lights’ they asked if I could include a few key elements — like neon, a psychic and have it take place in LA. Oh, and they wanted a little heartbreak, a theme that also ran through ‘Because I’m Me.’ I had a great time collaborating with them in LA. When creating music videos, it’s always best to be able to have access to the musicians along the way.”

The Avalanches formed in 1997 and are most commonly known for their live and recorded DJ sets and their two albums 'Since I Left You' which released in 2000 and the 2016 LP release 'Wildflower'.  According to NME, the group teased fans last month of a possible third album, posting cosmic imagery on their Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts. They recently released the single 'We Will Always Love You' on which they collaborated with Blood Orange.
