'RuPaul's Drag Race': What is gender dysphoria? Trans male queen Gottmik struggles to dance, Tina Burner knows why

Gottmik opened up to Olivia Lux about her gender situation, she was worried about her dance routine but nailed it eventually

The showrunners of 'RuPaul's Drag Race' Season 13 are making sure that the queens don't have a chance to sit back and relax, bask in the glory of their first lip-sync battle. Kandy Muse, Tina Burner, Gottmik, Symone, Elliott, Olivia Lux, and LaLa Ri not only walked the runway displaying two opposing looks – daytime classy and nighttime w***e – but also tasked to choreograph a dance number that would include both group and individual performances. 

Even though it started out slow with no one willing to take charge of the challenge, lead with an interesting routine, but with time the queens got into the groove. While most were rehearsing, Gottmik was experiencing "gender dysphoria". She is the first trans male to be a part of the reality competition series. It has been a little over a year that she has undergone a top surgery, which allowed her to shed her breasts and look more male-like. 

What is Gender Dysphoria?

According to Psychiatry, transgenders often suffer from bouts of psychological distress that stems from "an incongruence between one's sex assigned at birth and one's gender identity."

As Gottmik tried to get a hold of what she was feeling, fellow queen Tina Burner had all the answers. She immediately knew it was some sort of an "internal struggle" that Gottmik was dealing with. However, a day later, she was feeling better and the best version of herself once she opened up about her situation to Olivia Lux. Who couldn't stop talking about how brave Gottmik was being by sharing her concerns with the group. 

Meanwhile, fans have weighed with their two cents on Gottmik. "Gottmik and symone ATE that runway UP," a fan commented, while another shared: "It seems like Olivia is in the running to be Miss Congeniality. What a sweet queen to Gottmik!" "@gottmik might be my fav queen this season," a user posted, while another wrote: "#Gottmik did not come to play!! Slay baby slay!!"
