LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Riley Keough honored her "deeply loving" mother, Lisa Marie Presley on the first Mother's Day since her death. "Lucky to have had the best and most deeply loving mama I could have asked for," Keough wrote in the caption of her Instagram picture of her mother and father, musician Danny Keough, cuddling her as a baby.

Elvis Presley and Priscilla Presley's only child, Lisa Marie, died unexpectedly on January 12 after suffering a cardiac arrest. Riley, 33, was Lisa's eldest child from her union with Danny. The former couple also had a son, Benjamin, who died by suicide in 2020. The late singer and husband Michael Lockwood then had twins Finley and Harper Lockwood in 2008, eight years before their divorce.

'Best and deeply loving mama'

Riley spent her first Mother's Day without her mother Lisa Marie on Sunday. Nearly one week after the Tennessee native’s death, her family gathered for a funeral ceremony. The 'Daisy Jones & the Six' star has had a hard time conveying her feelings of grief at her mother's death. It was her husband, Ben Smith-Petersen who read her eulogy during the service. "I hope I can love my daughter the way you loved me, the way you loved my brother and my sisters," Keough said in a statement delivered by Smith-Petersen. "Thank you for giving me strength, my heart, my empathy, my courage, my sense of humor, my manners, my temper, my wildness, my tenacity. I'm a product of your heart, my sisters are a product of your heart, my brother is a product of your heart."

'I hope you find peace in the bittersweet'

Soon after Keough shared the touching image on Instagram, her followers responded with support and affection. "Riley, Sending so much love to you Harper and Finley today," wrote a fan. "Praying the legacy of her love will be with you girls every day of your lives. You are such a strong, beautiful young woman and I admire you! Happy Mother's Day too you." Someone penned, "Happy Mother's Day to you Riley, and Happy Heavenly Mother's Day to your mom, Lisa Marie. May you feel her presence today and have a blessed day." "Sending the best on a difficult but wonderful day for you," claimed one fan. "Enjoy it as a new Mom, but I hope you find peace in the bittersweet. Even from afar, we all knew Lisa Marie cherished her children." Some fans recalled seeing the picture in the past. A user wrote, "I remember this picture! It was in a tabloid at the grocery store and an elderly woman behind me spoke for all of us, "That there is gonna be one pretty human!" Another fan wrote, "What a great shot! She was magical!"

Riley Keough and Priscilla Presley feud

The social media message was made at a difficult time for Keough and her grandma, Priscilla Presley who is challenging Lisa's will because it no longer names her as a trustee. Riley was designated by the 2016 amendment as the trust controller for Elvis' Graceland home and as the owner of 15 per cent of the singer's estate, Deadline reports.
