The 47-year-old Kelly took to Instagram on Friday morning to upload a selfie with her husband Rick. She can be seen wearing what appears to be a black hoodie as she stood beside Rick. Meanwhile, Rick donned a gray checkered shirt. With the Instagram gender swap filter, Rick appeared as a woman, sporting blonde hair. While smiling into the camera he posed with a finger on his chin. Funnily enough, Kelly captioned the selfie, "Rick as a chick (with a chick emoji)."
Kelly Dodd apologizes for stirring transphobia on social media
'RHOC' alum was given $100 for giving a shout-out to a fan named Jennifer. According to Page Six's report, the star gave an earful of the transphobic message by claiming, "This is Jennifer ‘she/her,’ I don’t get this. You’re either a boy or a girl, OK?" She further slammed saying, "You’re born a girl or a boy. I don’t get it. You’re Jennifer. I’m sorry, I don’t give a f**k."
Later realizing that it was transphobic of Kelly to make such comments, she posted an apology on social media, saying, "I’ve been doing Cameos now for two years and I never saw the pronoun thing before." The star added, "This was the first time I saw a reference to he/him/she/they/them. I grew up, I grew up in Arizona with people who were born a boy and a girl and maybe a hermaphrodite here and there."
Kelly apologized for her raw comment, saying, "When I was reading the Cameo I saw the pronouns and we’d been drinking and I was just reacting in my own raw and unfiltered way. I want to be very, very clear about this. That I accept everyone for who they are. I accept everyone for who they want to be and who they believe themselves to be and I don’t hate anyone. I’m not transphobic. I was just unfamiliar with the language."
Well, this is not the first time Kelly has been in transphobic drama. MEAWW previously reported Kelly and Rick ranting against Heather Dubrow's trans son. Kelly was seen shaming Heather for her bad parenting skills as her 12-year-old son came out as transgender.
So, is Kelly posting Rick's gender-swap-filtered photo a joke, or is it once again a transphobic slam?
