Fox series, 'The Resident' initially aired in January 2018 and is a medical drama that like most of its counterparts follows the professional and personal lives of those working at the Chastain Park Memorial Hospital. The official synopsis of the premiere episode reads, "After a long wait, Conrad, and Nic prepare for their wedding day with the support of their family and friends. Meanwhile, flashbacks to the early days of the COVID-19 crisis shine a light on the heroism of the doctors and the toll the virus took on everyone at Chastain Memorial." Like other medical dramas such as 'The Good Doctor' and 'Grey's Anatomy', 'The Resident' will also focus on the pandemic storyline. Although expected from a medical drama, many are anticipating how the Fox series brings to light the struggle of healthcare workers when the pandemic first hit with shocking force.

Not to mention, Dr Randolph Bell will locate his former stepson, plastic surgeon Dr Jake Wong and try to recruit him to Chastain. Surgical resident Dr Mina Okafor and her mentor, Dr AJ Austin also become much closer this season.
