'He was a grand champion': Reba McEntire pens warm tribute for her 'Angel' dog Riddler who died of cancer
NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE: 'Queen of Country' Reba McEntire and her boyfriend, Rex Linn, are mourning the death of their little four-legged fur baby. McEntire shared a series of black and white pictures featuring of Riddler, herself and Linn on November 18 while stating that her companion died on November 16.
The star also shared a heartfelt tribute explaining his sorrowful cause of death. Riddler, who was only seven, died due to lymphoma. Lymphoma is a cancer of the lymphatic system. Riddler's death came less than three weeks after being diagnosed with the illness, according to Today.

Mourning her friend, McEntire wrote, "If we’re really lucky, an Angel will place something in our laps that will affect us for a lifetime…and we got really lucky. This particular “Angel delivered” life companion, Riddler (aka Budders, Budski, Squareheaded Bastard), said goodbye to us at 11:20 AM PT on Wednesday." McEntire further added, "Only seven years old, lymphoma took his life less than three weeks after diagnosis. He was a GRAND CHAMPION in the Show Ring, but a grander one in life. He impacted everyone that came across his path. He was a good man to ride the river with, the Best. - Rex & Reba," she concluded.
McEntire's post was soon showered with love from celebrities and her massive fan following. McEntire's fellow 'Young Sheldon' costar Melissa Peterman commented, "He was a magnificent boy!! It's a heartbreak when we lose them. RIP Riddler. Love you both." Actor Luke Mitchell also chimed in and wrote, "Guys I am so sorry! Sending lots of love your way."
One fan wrote, "I’m so sorry for your loss!! It’s so hard when we have to say goodbye to our fur babies!! I lost 2 kitties this year due to different cancers! One had osteosarcoma and the other had GI tumors. They were both around 15 years old!! Will say a prayer for y’all!! God bless!!" Another fan simply added, "So sad for your loss." "So sorry for your loss. Riddler was so loved and I'm sure he knew it!! Sending so much love. RIP Riddler," another comment read.
