‘Ready For War’: Release, plot, cast, trailer and everything you need to know of Showtime’s documentary based on deported US military veterans
Showtime recently announced the premiere of its upcoming 90-minute feature documentary which talks in depth of the lives of the deported US military veterans. Prior to channel’s announcement, ‘Ready For War’ was premiered at the AFI Fest on November 19. With Andrew Renzi at the helm, the documentary had its first world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.
Release:
Showtime will premiere ‘Ready For War’ on November 22 at 9 PM.
Plot:
The feature documentary throws light on the lives and struggles of three green card-holding US soldiers, using two years of footage, exploring some unknown facts about their personal lives. While the fight of one of the soldiers at Tijuana, determined to return and reunite with his family forms a part of the plot, the rest of documentary follows the second soldier, who is in ICE detention in the U.S. fighting deportation and another, who is entangled in a drug cartel in Juarez.
Cast:
Hector Bajaras
Hector Bajaras served in the US Army for six years, before his deportation in 2004, which lasted for over a decade. He was declared a US citizen in 2018, at a ceremony in San Diego when California’s governor permitted his return.
Miguel Perez
Miguel Perez is another veteran featured in ‘Ready For War’, who was stripped of his green card and deported to Mexico regardless of his Military service of six years. He returned to his home in Chicago earlier this month when he acquired US citizenship.
Director/Showrunners:
‘Ready for War’ sees Chris Long, Tara Long, Drake and Adel serve as the executive producers. It a joint production from Prettybird, North of Now, Cedar Park and Entertainment One. The feature documentary has been produced by Boak, Kerstin, Emhoff, Renzi, Anthony Gonzales, and Jason Shrier.

The official trailer for ‘Ready For War’ was released by Showtime on October 21. From disheartenment to expectations, the 2-minute-long video gives unprecedented access to the personal lives of the deported US military veterans. The nerve-wracking scenes of violence and bloodshed from drug cartel activities is paired with equally terrifying dialogues.
