Buffalo-born rapper Westside Gunn is gearing up for the release of his major-label debut through Eminem's Shady Records, with the LP 'Who Made The Sunshine'. The 37-year-old rapper took to Twitter on July 14 to share a series of tweets that revealed that the upcoming studio album is already complete while noting that its release will be through the Eminem-founded label alongside Griselda Records and Interscope.

His first tweet came with a promise that his new record will be a fresh sound for the label. “NOTHING in the HISTORY of @ShadyRecords sounds like ‘WHO MADE THE SUNSHINE’ absolutely NOTHING!!!” Gunn wrote. “Y’all gonna say he did P4P (AOTY) then AwesomeGOD2 just for the Culture then his debut Major release that sounds like this YOUR WELCOME #FLYGOD #CULTURE #ART #BUFFALOKIDS."

The "P4P" refers to his third studio LP 'Pray for Paris' through his and Conway the Machine's label Griselda Records. The album was released in April and drew inspiration from Gunn's trip to Paris Fashion Week. With 13 tracks, the album featured collaborations with Conway The Machine, Benny The Butcher, Freddie Gibbs, Roc Marciano, Joey Bada$$ and more.

The latter-mentioned project is his latest mixtape 'Flygod Is an Awesome God 2' which dropped on July 2. It features guest appearances including fellow Griselda member Benny The Butcher as well as underground talents among the likes of Stove God Cook$ and Rome Streetz. "And YES the “WHO MADE THE SUNSHINE” ALBUM IS DONE and will be released thru GXFR/SHADY/INTERSCOPE," the rapper added in his second tweet.

The tether to Shady Records appears a little strange since Gunn seemingly threw shade on the label recently during the 2020 BET Awards. On June 28, the rapper took to Twitter to raise the question of whether the label even knew Griselda had a nomination in the Best Group category. He said, “I wonder do @ShadyRecords know we’re nominated for a BET AWARD tonight."

Nevertheless, fans are excited to hear his new project with Shady Records. "Hell yea," exclaimed a fan while another said, "Congrats Gunn can’t wait hear it my g." One fan wrote, "Gun is going NO LIMIT." Another said, "Westside don't fu*k around. Dropping joints repeatedly!!!" Another fan added, "You're killing me with all this new music. My heart cant take it. Bless up."
